Aditya Birla Group has been present in India since 1857, making it the second oldest company in India. Since then, it has increased its operations from India to 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. The spread of ABG has been such that it has affected each and every aspect of our lives. The below facts are a self-demonstration of the impact ABG has created in my and every other Indian’s lives.

UltraTech Cement is India’s largest cement company with a 20% market share. This illustrates the contribution of ABG in the construction sector of India. In the non-ferrous metals business, Hindalco is one of the world's largest aluminium rolling company and one of the biggest producers of primary aluminium in Asia. It has made significant contributions to the airline industry which has Aluminium as its primary raw materials. Being the largest manufacturers of carbon black worldwide, ABG has enhanced the feel of transportation of each and every person. The tyres, plastics, paints, and inks, all contain carbon black as a major component.

An Idea can change your life! This has been one of the catchiest phrases from my childhood. It was one of the major factors that probed me to take an Idea sim card. The recent merger with Vodafone has made it the largest telecom services provider in terms of subscribers and revenue. In the fashion and retail sector, Pantaloons has been one of the biggest and successful chains in this industry. Aditya Birla Financial Services Group ranks among the top 5 fund managers in India and the services it provides in the areas of life insurance, asset management, lending, housing finance, equity & commodity broking, wealth management and distribution.

The whole gamut of industrial portfolio and reach in various sectors of ABG is a testament to the impact it has had in my life.

I worked at L&T Technology Services. As a member of its Corporate Social Responsibility team, I have contributed my small part to the society. One of the major initiatives we took as a team was the UnderFlyOver initiative. As a part of this initiative, we undertook the responsibility of adopting a flyover and transforming it from an unkempt area to a beautiful and well-maintained area with tree saplings. Another initiative we took was to give backpacks to underprivileged schools near the company premises. We distributed around 350 backpacks to these school children.

The company also had few unused computers in the storehouse. We got in touch with various police stations, orphanages, and schools where they were in need of computers for some daily activities. After removing the computers from the SEZ framework and distributed them to 11 different places. As a part of interaction with the underprivileged kids in remote areas, we got in contact with an NGO which had its own setup in village schools with the facility of video conferencing. We took sessions for these kids for basic subjects such as mathematics, science, and English.

My contribution has been to the scale of one person’s life. Aditya Birla Group has contributed to the scale of a billion lives.
