India but also worldwide .Their Business is spanned in 34
countries and they have been serving in sectors such as viscose
staple fiber, metals, cement, viscose filament yarn, branded
apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, financial
services, telecom, and IT services.
162 years old Aditya Birla Group has been affecting our lives from
every angle that we can think of, whether it is high-quality phone
connection in the name of Vodafone Idea Ltd. or building and
infrastructure which is built using UltraTech cement. Ultratech
Cement is the biggest producer of cement in India. Brands
like Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England, and
People have been dictating the term in which we define fashion.
Pantaloons which is one of the biggest one-stop fashion stores is
defining how we shop for our clothes. Hindalco, which is one of
the world's largest aluminum rolling companies and one of the
biggest producers of primary aluminum in Asia is crucial to the
Indian economy. These group of companies is one of the main
sources of employment generation in India. ABG group is also
very active in Corporate Social Responsibility and helping people
from every front of life. Either it is to provide Midday Meals or
Solar Lamps to the children or to provide a Skill training to adult.
Their work in the field of education and healthcare provider is
tremendous. Aditya Birla capital is also changing the phase of
India finance and insurance sector. ABG is not only helping to
generate employment or economic growth but they are also
defining the way Indian companies do their Business.
Part B
I am from a typical business class family from Bilaspur and I was
working with my Father in Pharmaceuticals Wholesale Business where
we sell medicines of various Pharmaceuticals companies. I wanted to
get knowledge and learn various intricate details related to business.
My journey from deciding what to do and from where is very
interesting but also very difficult. As an Owner of the business, I rarely
got any free time and in case of medicine which is also a critical and
emergency item, I was in my feet every day of the week. Deciding on
giving Common Admission Test (CAT) and clearing it with good
percentile was a very distant task for me. Going for offline classes was
next to impossible and also in this very competitive world getting a CAT
level teacher was also very difficult from where I came from. Going
through chunks of material offline and online and self-study those new
concepts was a challenging task. I always heard the phrase “Burning
midnight oil” and this came true in my journey to CAT 2018.To keep
things in track, whenever I found some time I use flash cards, mobile
apps for preparation. After clearing the CAT 2018 came the most
difficult phase that was of Group discussion and Personal interview
which some people find easy but on the other hand it was very
challenging for me as I never had that kind of experience before. Going
through various PI mocks, mocks GD, newspaper was difficult as well as
enjoyable. The fortunate day comes on 12 May when I got the message
that I have been selected in Indian Institute of Management (IIM)
Raipur, one of the premium institutes of India was one of the biggest
days of my life.
