Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?

Aditya Birla Group is one of India’s largest conglomerates. It operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. The group has a wide range of presence in metals, cement, viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services.

Due to such diverse industrial presence, the Aditya Birla Group has become a big part of people’s lives, especially mine. Many day-to-day activities of my life are somehow connected with the group. First and foremost are the company’s telecom services. I have been using Vodafone services from the very beginning. Post Vodafone’s merger with Idea, the group has become the largest telecom company. ABG helps me keep connected with my family members even if I am miles apart from them.

Secondly, ABG provides a range of apparel brands under its name. Pantaloons and Forever 21 are my favorite brands that I shop from. To gift men’s apparel to my friends and family members, I mainly turn to the other in-house brands of ABG like Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen and Peter England.

Thirdly, I have great trust in UltraTech cement. The cement which came into existence years ago, is still ensuring that the infrastructure I use in Mumbai is rock solid.

Fourthly, my mother has been using ABG’s product Freshwrapp since the time I started going to school. Over the years, the Freshwrapp foil papers have ensured that my food stays hygienic and fresh wherever I go.

How you overcame challenges in your life?

Challenges are a part and parcel of one’s life. These only keep growing in number as an individual progresses in life. I have also found myself in similar situations at various points in my life. My office years were a mix of challenges and intriguing situations. Fresh out of college, I started working as a public relations executive. I found it a bit challenging to adapt to the office environment in my initial days. I was required to work on multiple clients from different sectors. It was really difficult to manage all the clients together in the beginning. Slowly I started getting used to the work and I also learnt the art of multitasking.

Another major challenge that I faced was while I was working on an e-commerce startup for almost a year. I had exhausted all possible story ideas for the client and media coverage began to dip. The client was unhappy about it and told us to focus more on his coverage, failing which he would end the professional association with us. It was a challenging situation for me as I had also run out of new ideas. When I conveyed the situation to my senior, she suggested me a strategy for it. I followed her guidance and it resulted in many quality coverage for the client. Furthermore, the client went on to win a prestigious award in the PR category.

This incident helped me understand that it is very important to timely identify whether one strategy is working or not. If it’s not working then one must adopt a different strategy to achieve the desired results.
