While India was struggling for its freedom and identity, there were visionaries who aspired greater heights for the nation. It was in the 1850s, when Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla(the Group's founding father) set up industries in critical sectors such as textiles and fibre, aluminium, cement, and chemicals. From that era to now, Aditya Birla Group is not only in the league of Fortune 500 but has also been ranked fourth in the world and first in Asia Pacific in the ‘Top Companies for Leaders’ study 2011.
Aditya Birla Group has bought India global recognition by being the world leaders in various domains like the largest rolled-aluminium producer, the largest manufacturer of carbon black worldwide, the world's largest producer of Viscose staple fibre and the largest telecom company in terms of subscribers and revenue.
It has enabled Indians to explore and experience premium products by selling in-house brands such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England and People via their individual brand stores and through other multi brand outlets.
ABG also owns and operates multi brand fashion retail chain “Pantaloons” that has given access of diversified products to middle class people in India.
At an individual level I related to the quote : "Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak." By Rachel Zoe. Pantaloons made me enter the beautiful world of smart clothing. It has given me access to over 200 licensed and international brand. I feel the confidence it gives me without hurting my pocket(which comprised of the pocket money that a teenager gets) rather my parents majorly. I always felt awestruck by the variety of garments they offered. It is not restricted to garments but has accessories as well. The lights and the shine of the store added to the effects. Before picking up dresses , i take a complete tour of the store so that I don't miss out on any latest stuff. It has been years of association with Pantaloons and a lot of memories. It is big to me because it has played an important role in defining my choices, my personality and my fashion sense.
As the brand has competed and survived through the highs and lows, our lives have been the same.
It is full of obstacles but it depends on us if we can convert them into opportunities. The path to transform dreams into reality is never a smooth journey. Times would come where you would feel everything is going against you,and that would be the time to show little more courage to reach the other side of the table. Nevertheless, nothing worthwhile comes easy. This happens with everyone and it is on them to determine their journey with how they choose to react.
Something strange happened with me too. Life was okay-ish and there were no such roller coasters in the past as well. I was working hard for my end semester exams. It had been few days only since we had hosted a family function, which really was a stress buster during preparation. Just a day before my exam I felt a little cramp in my left hand that is my major hand. Little did I know, what surprise was stored in there for me. I woke up, put on some pain relief and went to the examination hall. It was then I realised I had a problem while penning down my answers. There were some weird strains felt in my arm that didn't allow me to write properly. I got myself checked and realised I had gotten a problem which might not get cured.
It did hit me hard initially but once I accepted to not let it become an obstacle, things became normal. It required a little more hard work, a better planning and a little more courage to achieve what I aimed for.
Nothing can overpower you until you allow it too.
Obstacles converted to Opportunities.
