A. Why is Aditya Birla Group is big in my Life?
Aditya Birla group is one of the most trusted Indian multinational conglomerate diversified across industries such as metals, viscose rayon, cement, apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO, and IT services.
Now pause for a moment and have a look around. You will realize that starting from our mobile network, car body, clothes we wear, a soft drink can on the table, to the copper filament of our electrical wiring, ABG has been a part of everything. They have become an integral part of our daily lives.
ABG’s imprints with Indian economy traces back to almost a century before our Independence. Just a few days after Independence, Grasim was incorporated, which today is world’s largest producer, exporter of viscose rayon fiber. In subsequent years, it entered into production of Metals business (Hindalco Industries), set up Indo Thai Synthetics company, incorporated Carbon black, developed brands like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Peter England as a part of Fashion & retail, entered into telecommunications industry till latest events of acquiring Novelis, Vodafone Idea merger.
I am proud to be associated with ABG group, as an employee at their metal’s flagship company Hindalco Industries Ltd. ABG is a part of me as it has transformed me into a better person both professionally and personally. I was exposed to a plethora of opportunities to learn and grow. I was part of the team which set up a brownfield continuous casting rod copper plant. To me, the Aditya Birla group stands as an industrialist with a vision of the prosperity for the country transforming the lives of its people.
B: How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances rather I believe in creating future by exploring opportunities to make our mark.
Obstacles and challenges are part of life. I too faced many challenges in my life. The most challenging part of my professional life was managing the project right at the start of my professional career. I was given the complete responsibility of the planning, purchasing, installation, erection, and commissioning of all Electrical equipment and machines for the project. Initially, I was little unsure about doing this but senior Management at Hindalco (ABG) gave me complete freedom and have supported me throughout, providing insights and skills at each step due to which, I could exhibit my technical skills in practical industry conditions. It was a rollercoaster ride from being a fresher to an efficient Manager.
Hindalco has transformed into a responsible and committed employee giving me these opportunities and freedom to implement, learn and grow. During the commissioning of the project, I also got the opportunity to visit China for theoretical and practical training on operations of the equipment. It was a fabulous experience as I got exposure to interact with industry experts and leaders around the world.
Although it was quite challenging for a fresher like me to lead a project, I would say that it was a journey to cherish that gave me a great learning experience. Working with ABG definitely has a huge impact on my life and helped me to evolve and grow as a person.
