We all have that one brand, that one company which we prefer over all others, have faith on and can identify with. For me, that’s Aditya Birla Group (ABG).

What I really find exciting about ABG is that it started in a small village in Rajasthan by venturing into cotton trading, and it has stood by all the winds and storms time have shown it for more than 150 years and expanded into many other verticals and even champed in them. Known to be India’s first global company, Aditya Birla Group has become a household name today. Being a multinational conglomerate, with a net worth of US $44.3 billion, the business is widespread in sectors of metals, textile, black carbon, telecom and cement.

Right from childhood, I have always been a fashion-conscious person. I have always loved to be well dressed and stand out amongst the masses. I always wanted to get myself a fancy semi-formal blazer and it happened to be from Van Heusen on my 10th farewell from Pantaloons. When I donned the blazer for the 1st time and walked down the school hallway, I felt nothing less than David Beckham, to be honest. Now, even my life at NMIMS seems to be vastly influenced by ABG. The formal wear is from brands like Allen Solly, Peter England and of course Van Heusen whereas the smart casuals are from brands like Hackett and Ted Baker. Also shopping from Pantaloons has made my life so much easier, with the point credit based system through which the cost is deducted from any shopping that I do there. Also, my phone, that constantly keeps me connected to everyone, the service provider is owned by another ABG Company in the telecom division – Vodafone Idea Ltd. Right from the start of my day, till the time I go to bed either I am wearing an ABG Brand or I am sleeping comfortably, with a sense of safety, in the house cemented by UltraTech.

Moving on to how important ambitions are, challenges come with it. They are a part and parcel of life in everything we do or want to do as well as invites issues which we have to overcome.

Moreover, while preparing for the competitive examinations, I was unable to clear the expected cut-offs and took up my TCS job offer instead of being bogged down with failure. It is of utmost importance to not let the failure get inside your head so as to thin with clarity. The stint at TCS proved to be a blessing in disguise as I was able to understand my skills and potential by working with others in a team. Reflecting back in time, one of the first challenges that I faced was working for an IT company after completing my engineering in Mechanical. I did not know coding and had to learn it all from scratch. Coming from a different background, learning a new software language was very difficult. But with added efforts and practice I managed to not only learn the language but also excel at it.

Looking at these challenges from the macro perspective, I am thankful for all the hindrances that I ever encountered as they are the stepping stones for the greater good.
