I belong to a middle-class family from Varanasi. My father has a manufacturing firm, so since my childhood I have seen the difficulties that a small business goes through. Some years are good, some not so good. Despite these I never experienced these ups and downs in my personal life until my stay at home but, then I moved out of my house for graduation and it dawned upon me that my parents cocooned me, to keep me safe and secure from the realities of world.
Within first semester of my college, I was diagnosed with pott disease. Basically, some bacteria were eating away bones at my lower spinal cord. Being trained in karate for more than 10 years, and a Black belt 1st Dan holder, I was used to the physical strength but now I had to be dependent on others for support, that was a huge mental shock to me. It’s truly said that hard times reveal true friends. This made me value my family and friends a lot more. I learned to appreciate people. Whenever I felt lost in this big world, I knew support was just a phone call away. The people around me gave me courage to explore and be fearless. During my college days, I realized that you do not need a lot of money to make an impact in someone’s life. Just one good deed of the day or even a smile of yours may brighten someone’s day.
I taught children of an orphanage through M.A.D. (Make a difference), which strengthened my belief of equality among all. We are only differentiated by the current privileges of life. Basically, all human beings need each other’s support to grow and flourish. I believe I made an impact in those children’s life by teaching them and making them believe that education is the path to a better life.
When I think of Aditya Birla Group impacting my life in a big way, I think of some small sweet memories of mine that I will carry forever with me, because of their big impact.
On one hand Grasim was my grandfather’s favorite brand for his safari suits. On the other hand during school days my obsession with shiny freshwrapp, both in my lunch box and even out of it knew no bounds, using it for various science projects, making robots or rockets using it and before that trying to cut lout a sheet perfectly without breaking it to wrap lunch. When I grew up and joined college, brands like People and Van Heusen are the ones that gave boost to my inner confidence to be fearless and believe in myself. After college moving to South for my first job, it was Idea that ensured that I stay connected to my family without any issues. After a few lavish spending of most of salary on formals by Louis Philippe, Allen Solly and Van Heusen, me being an Indian decided to save money. Having no knowledge of share markets, I turned to do SIP on mutual funds after checking suggestions and past performance. I invested in the best performing fund in large cap and it was an Aditya Birla Sun Life mutual fund. Also, since forever the Ultratech cement has been known by Indians as Engineer’s choice.
Like me there are a lot of Indians in whose life Aditya Birla Group has impacted in a big way. I hope Aditya Birla group keeps on touching lives of others because I know ABG Cares.
