I have always been called a very clear minded and level-headed person by people around me. This is because I have generally had a very clear idea of what I was going to do next, be it what my next school was going to be, what I was going to study after school, which college I want to target and what I want to do after that- which was MBA. Now that I am here, uncertainty has started to creep in slowly and gradually. I came to MDI with a very clear direction about what I wanted out of these next two years and where I wanted to be two years, ten years and twenty years down the line. This is not to say I was hundred percent sure that I will be doing that only, but I had a general sense of direction. However, I am no longer sure about which committees I want to join, which stream I want to specialize in or what I want to do in these next two years.
Having written all of this, now I come to the point. Whatever be my immediate goals, I have always tried to give back whenever possible. I am very passionate about teaching. I have taught two illiterate people for six months in school. While they could not even spell a letter in the beginning, they were able to read newspaper and write in basic Hindi by the end of six months. This is an achievement that I will always remember. I taught underprivileged kids while in college. I enjoy teaching concepts to my friends and help whoever it is understand something. I may not be sure where I want to be, but I am absolutely certain that I am going to make an impact in the education sector in India and help as many people learn as possible. Not only this, I am an aspirational writer and enjoy writing poetry. I want to make an impact in many lives by conveying my messages through poetry.
Now, coming to ABG, it has a special place in my heart. I have interacted with the conglomerate through its fashion and cement brands all my life without knowing it all came from the same Company. Growing up in a tier 3 city, owning a popular brand was considered a symbol of great prestige among the peer group. Hence, like most brand conscious teenagers, I was always attracted to brands like Allen Solly and retail formats like Pantaloons. When I required formals, I turned to brands like Louis Philippe and Van Heusen without thinking twice. Like most of the MBA students, I got my dream college in these clothes and hope to get my dream company too in them. My city has grown rapidly over the past 10 years and I have seen Ultra Cement in every lane in my childhood. It’s ad is still etched in my memory and I really admire it’s marketing campaigns. So, ABG has had a part in my past and it still does so today.
