Big in my Life
ABG or Aditya Birla Group was established in the year 1857 by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla. Right after independence in 1947 Grasim Industries Ltd, was incorporated and the firm dealt in manufacturing textiles and 70 years down the lane it is a global leader in viscose staple fibre. The Aditya Birla, the third largest Indian Multinational conglomerate has shaped various sectors of the Indian Market scene over the years.
From the mid-2000s I have certainly felt that products and services of Aditya Birla group have affected my life for the better in some way or the other. The first out of many products from ABG that made a mark in my life was UltraTech Cement as it was the cement used or the soul of our family house. And now with a degree in Civil Engineering I can say it is ‘The Engineer’s Choice’ without a doubt. Now coming to another sector, a visit to Hindalco Industries during my school days fanned the flames for pursuing engineering as a career in the future. Aditya Birla has also made its mark in the telecom industry with Idea! And I have been a loyal Idea! customer for at least 4years now. And during the Fani Days in Odisha, Vodafone-Idea network made it easier for the persons in affected areas to communicate with the outer world. The Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance has also insured the safety of my parents and my family. My parents cannot stop talking about the benefits of the policy and I am next in line to avail the policy in the future. Now coming to the part where ABG has been a part of day-to-day routine in one way the other is its apparel line. Peter England, Van Heusen, Louis Phillippe and Allen Solly have always spruced up my style be it a late-night party, a business conclave or formal meetings. My confidence reaches a new high after donning on a suit from Van Heusen or a shirt from the Gods and Kings range from Louis Phillippe.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in Life so far
Born into an upper middle-class family, early days of my childhood were a smooth flow. But as I grew up and stepped into my primary school days, I started to face a few challenges along the way. One of them was my fear of public speaking. Taking part in debates, extempore and other oratory events helped me tackle this challenge. Primary school ended and it was time for high school. New challenges were spewed my way and I braved them one challenge at a time. The ones that I vividly remember are being appointed as the coordinator for the Annual Sports meet and being barraged with responsibilities ranging from arranging refreshments for the guests to making sure that all the events were being conducted on time. This experience helped me realise my potential to work in a team and act as a leader whenever needed.
After high school got over it was time to step into the real world, “the engineering life.” Getting into College of Engineering and Technology was the first tough step in the way. Hard work, perseverance, and a little bit of luck made this dream come true. Once I was a part of the prestigious campus, one thing resonated in my mind, the want to make a mark in the institute. There were many a curveball thrown my way but with proper approach and thought process I was able to overcome the challenges. The biggest challenge in my four years of Civil engineering was the responsibilities bestowed upon me as the alumni coordinator. As the alumni coordinator I arranged the alumni meets and handled the alumni proceedings of the college. The next bigger was starting up “CIVICON”, the Civil Engineering society of my college. After weeks of brainstorming, ideation and running around from authority to authority it was a success and the club became fully functional. During the last year of engineering life, it was all about appearing CAT and XAT exams to get into a reputed B-School. After long arduous journey of going through exams, group discussions and Personal Interviews my hard work paid off and I got selected here in XIM, Bhubaneswar. My journey doesn’t end here and there is a long way ahead to go and reach newer heights in my life.
