Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life
What started as a tiny initiative in a small village in Rajasthan way back in 1857, has now
grown into a vast enterprise with a ginormous ecosystem which we have come to know as the
Aditya Birla Group.
The first network that I came in contact was Idea (now Vodafone Idea). A network with
superior connectivity in every sense, with better than most 90% of the population coverage,
the brand had all the bells and whistles, along with the balls to match the swagger. But what I
didn’t know was the fact that along with this, 20% of Vodafone Idea’s telecom towers are
operated by hybrid power, thereby reducing the Carbon Dioxide emissions. A brand not only
concerned with productivity but also with sustainability is the one I am proud to be associated
with and this is the organization I’ll continue to strengthen my bond with.
The group has a presence in non-ferrous metals, textiles, chemicals, agri-business, carbon
black, mining, wind power, insulators, financial services, retail and trading solutions. But
let’s keep business aside and talk about the aspect that every industrialist should follow,
something that surpasses all the accolades the group has is Shaktiman Krishi Seva Kendras.
An initiative by ABG to increase farm yield and provide us good quality grains by providing
farmers with all the necessary help they need. Equally commendable is the ground-breaking
work of Novelis in the field of electric vehicles, designing the world’s first lightweight, high
strength aluminum battery enclosure, proving that ABG is not just big today; it is equally
cognizant of our future.
The group has successfully covered almost all aspects of my life, right from me using their
internet services to check my emails, to wearing Louis Philippe and Allen Solly’s formals, to
packing my food using their aluminum foils and finally working and staying in buildings
which have been built using the UltraTech Cement.
ABG is big in our lives, not just as a modern Indian wishing to achieve the highest peaks of
success and happiness, but also as a responsible citizen of this planet, keeping sustainability
at the heart of every action and step.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far
I think that life is difficult. People have challenges. Family members get sick, people get
older, you don't always get the job or the promotion that you want. You have conflicts in your
life. And really, life is about your resilience and your ability to go through your life and all of
the ups and downs with a positive attitude.
Being a student my biggest challenge has always been being the student! Sitting through the
conventional lectures was sometimes difficult. My mind and body were always going, and I
couldn't wait to get out of my seat, move around, share my thoughts, and interact with my
peers. That was before my start of life as an MBA student. I realized that the challenges had
just begun. It was the first time that I was staying without my parents. I didn’t know how to
cook or do the daily household chores to survive. I didn’t like the tiffin services’ food either.
With all the classes and assignments going on in college, it was very difficult for me to
manage both the places for the 1st two weeks.
But from the 3rd week onward, I started getting a hold of things. I managed the time efficiently. After
all, the ambitions are mine and it is me who has to figure out a way to achieve them. So I handled it
by focusing all my energy into my listening and note-taking. It helped keep my mind busy
and my body moving, and I also left with some great notes.
