Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
One of the first names that come to mind when I think of an Indian multinational corporation is the Aditya Birla Group. It does not come as a shock as the group operates in 35 countries worldwide with a roster of over 1,20,000 employees. Be it any sector, you can rest assured that the ABG group has a hand in it. In the process, they have touched millions of lives worldwide, including mine.
The ABG group has a role to play in my life daily. The most used ABG product or service that I use is Vodafone Idea. My first ever sim was that of Idea and today it is Vodafone Idea. It has provided internet connectivity to an entire nation. I still remember while on a camping trip to a remote Himachal village, while my friends were struggling for network connectivity, my phone was working just fine because of uninterrupted network connectivity. Gone are the days when I must shell out Rs. 250 for 1 GB of data per month. The amount of pocket money I saved due to unbeatable pricing is priceless.
As a professional, I am used to dressing up formally almost daily right out of school. The first brand that comes to mind when I want to shop is Louis Philippe followed by Allen Solly and Van Heusen. No prizes for guessing who is behind these brands – the Aditya Birla Group. The extensive collection of style and sizes is unparalleled in the Indian market of affordable clothing. Every time I get a compliment, I can’t help but laud myself for making the right choice while picking out clothes and I only have the Aditya Birla Group to thank for that.
I am sure that this group will continue to impact lives going into the future.
A Tale of Overcoming Unpredictability and Speed
A life without challenges would be challenging. Where is the fun in a mundane life where everything is handed to you in a silver platter without having to fight for it? Having ambitions in life would become pointless if you knew it you could meet them with relative ease. Challenges test your resilience. Each new challenge teaches you new things about you and the world around you.
The biggest challenge that I have faced in my life was to clear the notoriously difficult Chartered Accountancy Exam. It took me several attempts. Each attempt was a bigger challenge than the one before. There were two big problems in each attempt that I took. The first was the unpredictability of the exam pattern and the second was my slow writing speed. I have never once completed a full paper despite knowing the answers.
The solution to my problems were simple, perseverance and smart work. Hard work was done while preparing for my first attempt. I missed the target score by 6 marks. The second time, I missed by 7 marks. I had realized my mistake. I had been preparing for the full 800 marks rather than that extra 6 or 7 that would realize my dream. I missed those marks because of the unpredictable set of questions, questions I never expected. The next time I set out to prepare, I was not preparing the syllabus, rather preparing myself. I made a repository of all the non-expected questions over the last 15 years and got down to work. I figured, if the factor of unpredictability was eliminated, nothing could stop me. All my time was spent on solving new type of questions. I matched my answers with the suggested answers and slowly but surely, things began looking bright and I was prepared.
The other problem was my slow writing speed. I figured, even if I know the answers to the questions, it would be pointless if I could not complete the paper or at least a substantial part of the paper. Thus, began the speed test. The pattern is such that you can give only 108 seconds for each mark. So, if a question was for 10 marks, I had precisely 18 minutes. Its easier said then done. To overcome this challenge, I had to monitor every second spent on each answer. Every question was done with a timer running in the background. A mental calculation was required regarding the time to be devoted. At the beginning, I had no idea how difficult thus would prove to be. But, after 3 months of time training, I managed to reach my target a week before the exam date.
I was prepared. I sat for the exam and cleared it with flying colors. This challenge made my truly value the result. Had the work been easy, the joy of achieving it wouldn’t even be close to where it is today.
