Aditya Birla Group was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla over 160 years ago by and now operates in 65 countries having interest in diverse sectors with its subsidiaries like Ultra Tech Cement, Vodafone Idea Limited, Aditya Birla Capital and Pantaloons Fashion & Retail. It has been part of our daily life with UltraTech Cement Limited; being the largest manufacturer of cement in India, Hindalco Industries Limited. It contributes in different sectors by manufacturing Aluminum, Copper, Fertilizers, Textile, Software, Telecom, and Retail.
My association started with Aditya Birla Group when I moved for higher education in another city. I started with Pantaloons Fashion & Retail wearing their apparel. Soon I started shopping for casual trousers from Allen Solly and Peter England. Van Heusen association started during MBA interview preparation when I shopped for formals. Aditya Birla Group is only associated in apparels but also with how I stay connected with family and regularly updated about happenings of the world. Aditya Birla Group owns 26% in Vodafone Idea Limited, and with this merger we benefit from network connectivity of two telecom companies. I have seen the impact of the work done underAditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development by them to make a difference to rural life by establishing schools, skill development, running hospitals and medical camps. Also the work is in alignment with government objective of investing in renewables and protect environment like providing solar pumps for school children.
The most challenging situation I faced was getting research paper “Development of Mathematical Model using Jatropha Oil by optimising SFC with RSM Method” published in International Journal of Advance Engineering and Research Development. The goal of my research paper was to optimise the parameter Specific Fuel Consumption(SFC) which gives maximum performance and develop a mathematical model for it. For achieving desired results, it required to perform a number of experiments with different Blend Ratio at different Load condition. The methodology I used was Response Surface Methodology(RSM) because through calculations I found that it will yield best possible results. Here I used the process parameters like compression ratio, blend ratio and load with different levels. As I had to practically and theoretical prove the results and along with showing a correlation between them; also only after showing a correlation I could develop the mathematical model for the paper. The predictive value for optimum set is 0.20251 which is nearer to experiment value which is 0.093. Error of model is 0.00317 and % error is 3.4. This error percentage signifies that this product is viable and can be used for practical purposes.
For achieving it I was consistent to carry out practical’s daily on the engine by varying different parameters. I worked on the research paper for one year and segmented the work on daily basis. I knew that this was long term commitment and not a one day task so I decided to work effectively. Before starting working on paper I studied few research papers about what was the previous work and challenges faced along with the scope of improvement. After analysis I decided to he Response surface methodology(RSM) approach for building the mathematical model to increase the efficiency of the operation. At last I was able to achieve the desired error percentage and successfully published the research paper.
