Impact of Aditya Birla Group in my life

It was my first job interview. I had studied hard for it. Yeah, I had been studying all four years of my college to get a good job. And now when the day was about to come, I was ready with my check list. Job profile read? Check. Documents ready? Check. Resume ready? Check. Clothes ready? Oops. No. This seemed like a hindrance into my getting a good job. The whole corporate world and the first impression being the most important one seemed to get onto me. But, I did not have the proper attire for it. So, I rushed to the nearest Vanheusen store I could find, told them my dilemma and with the most polite smiles, they were ready to help me out. Within no time, I was ready for my attire. This is what ABG means to me. It means convenience to me. It is like a go-to brand in times of distress. Be it my brother’s favourite brand with Peter England ,my sister’s favourite Forever 21,  the smell of my mother’s homemade parantha wrapped in Hindalco freshpakk, my father’s ultimate preference of Ultratech cement for the new house we’ll be living in, or the nostalgia I get every time I see Aditya Birla capital painted everywhere when I reach Mumbai airports to meet my Grandmother, I can say that  ABG has always maintained a trust I always look for in any product. It gives me a feeling of home along with a feeling of class which I always for in brands I choose.

Overcoming challenges to achieve ambitions

When I was in the 2nd year of my college, I got to know about a virtual marketing internship. It was more of a competition to promote sales of the company’s products. Considering that it was a marketing internship and I being an engineering student, at first, I did not participate wholeheartedly. The process was to log into their challenge link, get a referral code and convince people to buy products from a new e-commerce platform using my referral code. If I could reach the Rs 5000 milestone, I would get a ‘certificate of merit’ and if I could sell products worth Rs 20000, I would get a ‘certificate of excellence’. I only intended to reach the Rs 5000 milestone. It was difficult but, still did not seem that far fetched.

Now that I had registered, I did not understand how to proceed further. So, I decided to research further into the subject. After doing my research I realised that after applying my referral code, the difference between the wholesale price and online price had a difference of Rs 1, with online being of the winning end. So, I had my lead there. All I had to do was convince people to buy the product from where I was asking them to do. Now, this was a problem for me. Being an introvert all my life and not really meaning to talk to people, let alone convince them was not really exciting for me. I decided to give up on the challenge altogether. The next morning, when I went to the local shopkeeper in my area, I had an idea. All I had to do was convince a few shopkeepers to make some larges purchases instead of convincing a large number of people to make small purchases. So I had my plan in action.

Now, though it seemed an easy task, it was difficult during that time to make the shopkeepers buy anything online. I was ignored by many, dismissed by many, however, after walking on foot for 4 days in the scorching heat and showing my face every day to the shopkeepers, I was finally ready to convince a few of them, enough for me to win the competition.

For a person who is very extrovert, this might seem like a difficult thing to do. However, for me, I really appreciate myself for making through it.
