ADITYA BIRLA GROUP: IMPACTING LIVES_IMI NEW DELHI
Aditya Birla Group popularly known as “ABG” is not just a brand but a way of life. It is because of the
hegemony which it has for such a long time over such a diversified portfolio of companies.
The group has affected our lives in so many ways that we do not tend to realize the scale of impact and
influence it has created over every sphere. There was a time when girls used to sit at home but today, they
lead companies. Brands like Allen Solly and Van Huesen worked towards the formal attire of ladies and
helped them move forward with confidence. The brand helped them to be comfortable in their own skin.
When I stepped into the corporate world, Van Huesen apparel gave me the confidence I needed. We don’t
realize how attire helps us in boosting our motivation and determination but it plays a major role. With
the apparel store like Pantaloons, the clothing provides comfort with a sense of delight. It is the trust that
they built over the years makes me come back to them again and again.
I remember the time when we renovated our house and the only brand, we trusted was ABG for Ultratech
cement. Today the foundation of our house is strong because we made the right choice. Aditya Birla
Group has made lives easier in ways unknown.
Furthermore, my first network which helped me connect with the world outside was Idea. That was the
first time I was able to share and move head to head with the world outside. It helped me open with the
new possibilities outside and ABG has been my companion and helped me overcome my reclusiveness.
I was a student of girls’ school and girls’ college. People tend to think what the big deal in that is. Co-ed
or girls’ college hardly makes a difference. However, it really does make a lot of difference.
Living your life by seeing only one gender subjects you to one side which makes you ignorant to the
other side of the world. So was the case with me. I became comfortable with girls but not with boys
which resulted in diffidence as my innate nature. However, soon enough I realized my weakness and
started to work on it. It was not about being with boys, but it was about being confident no matter what
comes.
I knew I had to work on my communication skills and interact more with people. In college I started
interacting with everyone. When I got placed in EY, that was the time I faced challenges. I had to interact
with managers, seniors, colleagues and anyone you can name. Every day the amount of work and pressure
was hitting me hard. Also living alone had its own set of challenges, which was creating an
insurmountable urge in me to get out of the confinement, which was getting very suffocating to live by.
However, I did not give up and mustered up courage to gel along with everyone especially men and made
sure to have engrossing conversations with them. It was then I realized how much knowledge you can
receive by just communicating. Ultimately determination and the will to succeed made me triumph in
whatever work that was assigned to me. I did well both professionally and personally. I think the learning
that came while being in EY was immense. It is truly said that a person can bring out their real potential
when confronted with hardships.
