Aditya Birla Group – inspiring every Indian for over a century!

Across the length and breadth of this vast sub-continent, India, there are few names which resonate well with people from walks of life.  One such and among most prominent ones is the Aditya Birla Group.  The Aditya Birla Group has been an entire community in itself – this isn’t an exaggeration by any means as India has hardly seen any ‘brand’ sail through so dominantly across generations, regions and social strata.  The Group has diversified business interests spreading across sectors – which serve the collective conscious of the society – from a common man to a multi billionaire. The entire business conglomerate, in the form of the Aditya Birla Group, has hardly left any feather that hasn’t got added to its hat already.  The Group, while making unprecedented stride to the lives of Indian has taken another further stride by expanding operations to over 34 countries across the world and is already garnering over 50% of its revenue from its business interests overseas – impacting lives globally as much as in India.  By employing over 120,000 employees – along with the coveted title of being the ‘Best Employer in India’ for 3 times in the last 7 years – it has made an unmatchable contribution towards the lives of 1000’s of families in a growing nation and its peers.

Despite being a company as old as India’s first freedom struggle, it continues to remain as relevant as it was back then and its reputation only continuing to grow over time – as was envisaged by its visionary founders.

Be it fashion, retail, lifestyle, infrastructure, financial services, telecom, education, mining or any other sector, the Group has set its vision in sight and has earned itself the position of a pioneer in every venture it took up.  It is therefore only fitting that despite being one of the oldest business families in India, it continues to remain true to its repute and still resonates with kids to senior citizens alike!

While I’ve been a very frequent consumer of the Group among million others, what has significantly enthralled me about this group is to make contributions to the society through its corporate social responsibility – apart from its business interests.

I gather that through its various programmes, it, inter alia, reaches out to over 7.5 million people annually through its initiatives, works in 5,000 villages globally, runs 56 schools (with significant unprivileged students in population) and provides scholarship, operates over 20 hospitals, provides mid-day meals and conducts other various programmes to lift people out of poverty.

Mentioned above are some among various other reasons which swells every Indian with pride for showing to the world the contribution one of our companies could make.  With a $44.3 billion corporation and a Fortune 500 company who has consistently evolved to overcome challenges and impact lives, I’m sure the Group has much more left to contribute that we could ponder.

How I Overcame Challenges to Achieve My Ambitions in Life So Far

“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life beautiful”

I think the above quote perfectly sums up the essence of a worthy life.  Life has its upsides and downsides and it keeps throwing us out of our comfort zone more often than not even while we keep tend to get complacent at the smallest comfort.

Although much of life and its challenges lie ahead of me, I have so far, always, looked at every challenge life has thrown at me as an opportunity to grow and get out of it in a much better and stronger place.  It is this thought which has passionately helped me overcome every big/small obstacle thus far.  Every challenge comes with a solution and it is only about taking it on in a structured, organised thought process with a composed temperament and no challenge would then remain a challenge.  With this every challenge becomes smaller and self-confidence bigger. While sometimes challenges do cause setbacks, it is important to not chain yourself to these smaller hurdles otherwise a lot of things would come to a standstill. Setbacks, whether big or small, could be washed away with a determined spirit, albeit with a greater effort.

It is therefore important to not give up and continue to have a spirited, enthusiastic view of life and convert challenges to interesting turning points which would always make us proud when we look in hindsight at a later stage.

As they say, ‘Change is the only constant’, therefore to grow and do well in life, one has to constantly get out of his/her comfort zone and lead with passion to overcome challenges.
