“ Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others”. This is how, I think, we can relate to
Aditya Birla group. The premium global conglomerate, has catering products and viable services in domestic parralleling marking global footprint.
As a son staying in a hostel, for the first time outside the home, it is essential to connect with home, I was using mobile network services which has distorted the call quality. On the suggestion of my hostel mate when I switched to “Idea” (collaborated with Vodafone) network, this allowed me to video call home on 4G service at a reasonable cost for an average Indian, which made me feel home. The network is serving many like me.
The group's firm Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Ltd is close to my fashion and sense, they have the right perspective of fashion, to choose. The brands such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England and People sold via their individual brand stores and through other multi-brand outlets made the life of students like me, easier. They provide varied facets of clothes and brands to pick, let it be smart casuals for friends party or executive look for my interviews. They cover and back me up.
For me, the superpower conglomerate mission,” To deliver superior value to our customers, shareholders, employees and society at large”, resonates with Indian people needs, which very less has made possible.
Challenges made me from a bitter to a better person.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
While I was pursuing my Engineering, as a student I grew complacent about the challenges ahead with the mediocre learning curve. My father was working in an organization then, for about 20 years and I had no financial burdens.
My father suddenly relocated to another state with reduced pay in his income. My father was insistent that only he would be relocating as I pursuing my bachelors and my brother was about to write 10th class board exams. It was difficult for my mother to manage the house single-handedly.
The things have turned upside down in a blink. My focus on studies was plummeting and I had health problems and I had to take medication for almost two to three months. My grades were gradually heading down. All these had a tiring effect on my mind.
When one day, I have realised that I am not taking that extra mile and that extra effort to cross the mediocre boundary, to succeed. I mended my thinking and started to push myself harder. I wanted the hardships and sacrifices of my parents are not in vain. The transformation didn’t happen in a day, but I kept making progress every day.
It took time for me to be focussed on my studies. I use to start small, achieve little and steadily gain confidence.
Sometimes, I would stay extra time in labs to understand experiments. And for the final year project and thesis, I would spend time researching and understanding published journals and papers. My marks were reviving to increase and I passed Engineering with distinction.
I kept my education as my priority and dedicated my time to study, to take care of my family and my health. I could get a job were I diligently worked and stood for my family and now moved to pursue an MBA based on my interests (My father had returned now after serving for three and half years). I think a positive attitude with diligence heart will make things possible.
