While businesses aim at achieving more and more profits, acquiring market share and customers, there are only a few who touch the lives of millions, with their products and services. Such is the story of Aditya Birla Group which has become a household name in the Indian continent. ABG group's key products such as cement, chemicals, fertilizers, branded apparel are a few of the many products that are omnipresent in the Indian market. Our house was built a decade ago , while renovated countless times. The one thing that remains common is the UltraTech Cement, which has continuously provided strength to the structure. I still remember, the year was 2011, when I got my first mobile phone. Belonging from a humble background, we decided to go with idea communications which were accessible and affordable at the time. Even though the exposure was limited, but now as I look back, it is these products which empowered me and millions of others to gain access to easy and affordable communication systems. The group which also deals in well-known fashion brands such as Pantaloons, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England, Forever 21 and Louis Philippe has become a name synonymous with fashion in Indian customers mindset. I remember, my first day at work and my mom had got me a Van Heusen formal dress to add to the happy occasion. The firm also enjoys a continued loyalty from its customers owing to its commitment to quality and product durability. Taking into account the success story of ABG, it’s a revolutionary company in the modern landscape of 21st century India.

The humble beginnings of ABG resonates loudly with my own story, a tale of struggle, sweat and dirt to achieve my own goals. There is always a phase in life where one finds in the middle of a thick fog. such was my case, during my early schooling days in Delhi. I was quite introvert and tried to escape the situations which required fighting them head-on. Indian families can be a bit over the board in terms of being conservative. Such was the plight of my family too, which affected me to suppress my emotions. However, I never let go off the one ray of hope that I always had - to take up a challenging career in corporate doorways. After graduating from High School, I decided to go for Chartered Accountancy as a career option, but that did not work out despite all the efforts. The pain of all the efforts, time and money going to waste was devastating, but this was not the end. I stood up, and worked hard which elevated me to the corporate ladders of Ernst and Young. The experiences that I got were valuable for a lifetime and the people I met became my support system while dealing with clients. Commitment to work and quality were the key parameters which drove me to serve my clients just as ABG group is committed to the same. While working through various assignments and global projects, there remained a thirst for gaining knowledge. I decided to quench this thirst under the waterfall of management education, in order to be more agile and future ready. It was a difficult decision at first, to let go off the wonderful organisation that Ernst and Young was, but I was ready to take on the next big thing. Walking past the doorways of Goa Institute of Management, my mind was numb with thoughts of leaving my parents, loved ones, my comfort zone and venturing into the unknown. But the path to success is never too easy and good things come to those who are willing to sacrifice. The journey has been a roller-coaster of things happening from all directions, but one thing which remains common is my resolve to hone my skills for a better tomorrow.
