How Aditya Birla Group is big in our life
The ad jingle : “what an idea, sirji” was quite famous from the yesteryear, and for all the good reasons. It usually had the most intelligent ads addressing social issues, which were in the minds of the public and tended a positive image of the entire business house, Aditya Birla Group. Currently idea has seen a merger with Vodafone, becoming the largest telecom carrier in India. Holding the lead in a country of 1.3 billion, is no mean feat. Moving on to other terrains, how Aditya Birla stays close to our hearts, is India’s most loved brick and mortar shopping destination: Pantaloons. Common man has found shopping in Pantaloons, as not only enriching but also elevating. Here we can find a lot of inhouse brands like Peter England, Van Heusen, Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly. Half of the just stated brands would seem like a premium foreign brand to the uninitiated, not because how they are named but because of the unwavering quality and variety. These features of attention to quality, is persistent in every product that they make. Similar has happened in the constructions as well. Birla white putty, probably the first of its kind in Indian market is synonymous with the construction and home décor industry. And having made an attempt to recollect all the major points of contact with Aditya Birla Group products and brands I have come across, it would be unwise to miss out a reference to FreshWrap aluminium foils, which is used to pack and keep the home food warm over the long journeys or till office breaks. The foil does just enough to keep the love from home, preserved inside the rolls of aluminium.
The connect with this big conglomerate is too intricate and difficult to be described in words. A better attempt to do it, would be to say that our generation has grown up with the sights and sounds of Aditya Birla Group. The bond is more of an emotional one, than that of a typical producer and consumer. And as they say emotional bonds are priceless and time-proof.
How I overcame challenges to achieve ambitions in life
Every journey throws up a challenge, none so more than the journey of life. The result depends on, how we address those challenges and react to it and, not how big the obstacle was. There is a popular saying that goes by: your attitude and not aptitude will determine your altitude.
Till my graduation, I had been a day scholar. And all my life I was never away from the protective bunker, so fondly called home. I knew there will be some day where I needed to move out due future commitments, so when I had the option to choose my preferred location in my first job, I chose a new city Bangalore. I got to stay away from home, learned to manage myself on my own and experienced a different culture in the far away city. Also the mix of languages I came across in the cosmopolitan city, was overwhelming to me. And I have learned to carry a few of the lingos learned. I have learned that if there is a new challenge lurking around the corner, better be prepared to face it than run away from it. Sooner or later the obstacle will be too big to handle.
In my organisation TCS, in my initial days we were given a tedious task of fetching logic of operations from numerous existing processes. This usually involved opening the processing concerned tool and manually copying the logics to a spreadsheet document. The quantity of job was too large and process was too repetitive to say the least. So tried with several approaches of finding shortcuts and looked for pieces of logic in meta-data documents. Then devised a a python script to fetch logics from the meta document and add them in spreadsheet. This innovation was a step-by-step process, took more than a month’s time. Eventually the process was full-proof and the entire journey became an exciting learning opportunity for me. In the end realized that no matter how difficult a task seems at first but always try to optimize and automate the process. It will definitely lead to better understanding of the process.
By bits and by pieces I have been learning to overcome the obstacles and hardships in my career. Hope to overcome all future challenges as well. And more than overcoming the challenges, approaching them with a positive outlook remains the first step in solving them.
