Many of the biggest improvements in me have come from very challenging situations in my life at the inflection points of my career. Overcoming those challenges in itself was a journey that has helped me transform myself and has given me a sense of a brand that I want to create out of myself.
Being the only child of my parents with both of them working, I, in my childhood was a reserved little introvert who only spoke when asked and always happy in my own world of my toys. I carried this to my school and graduated with a lot of marks but not as many friends. I found myself weak in social interactions and building strong relationships. More importantly, I always had wanted myself to be somewhere at the top, visualising myself as a leader and a future pioneer. With my then possessed skill set, it all seemed difficult and all my confidence and my vision started to fade. Just then, there was an ignition set in me upon reading Ignited Minds by Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam. It urged me to come out of the shell, and explore the world as the butterfly hidden in me.
Undergraduate college provided me with the best opportunities to socialise, interact and learn from people’s personalities of how I was aspiring to be. A quiet analysis and reform when applied, I started feeling the change in myself. Soon I was interacting in ways much more engaging than earlier and building meaningful relationships that led to a lot of learnings. Soon, I found myself in leadership positions in college and doing pretty well. By the end of undergraduate college, I was a transformed personality, enough extroverted, a listener, insightful and a viable leader. It fills me with a lot of confidence when I look back at it and it reinvents my will and hope of seeing myself as a leader in the future.
Speaking of the leaders of the future, Aditya Birla Group, one of the few industrial giants probably every person of every household in India knows. There is no doubt to the contributions of such industrial houses towards making India a superpower from an enslaved, poor nation. Undoubtedly, Aditya Birla Group, at its helm having, ‘Taking India to the world’, has really taken India to a position of strength and have brought immense opportunities and facilities to India, which seemed impossible in the mid-1900s.
Aditya Birla Group is big in India due to various initiatives. It makes me optimistic about working in India by bringing in employment opportunities to India in their joint ventures and various manufacturing facilities around India. It is big, yet it has made the long walk in the bazaar small by introducing MORE retail stores in India and has made everyday household shopping hassle free. Aditya Birla Group owned cloth brands have made my wardrobe big. Peter England and Louis Philippe have brought a huge variety and made easy my shopping for formal clothing as well as casual business wear. Pantaloons lets me shop for my shoes, accessories, my sports wear and casual wear all at one place and brings to me big offers at every shopping. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail has brought to Indians a huge variety of buying opportunities and has made big brands like Ralph Lauren accessible. It also brings to me the biggest mobile communication network in India and makes immense distances look small and brings my favourite people closer to me. Spectacular marvels, like the Sea-Link, infused with ‘the engineer’s choice’ cement UltraTech makes my chest go big wide and proud at its strength, beauty and enormity. ABG brings to me its best contribution in making bigger, more robust and stronger India, and inspires me to add to its developments as ABG always has.
