Since childhood I have been hearing the name “Birla”. I was so young that I could not even know what it meant until I grew up. Aditya Birla Group has left the impression so big in all of our lives that it has created a special place in our minds and hearts. For me, the word “Big” refers to the scale and the speed with which Aditya Birla Group has created a place in all of our lives through achieving global and national leadership in several businesses spreading across 14 industry sectors. What makes me believe its brands are the quality and services they provide while giving special attention to the big 5 forces of integrity, commitment, passion, seamlessness and speed.

Aditya Birla Group has been an important part of my life through two of its varied businesses. I have been using “Idea” services for the last 5 years. It has been a seamless experience when it comes to the services that it has been providing for decades. It has made me connect with my family and friends with ease and also facilitated me to cherish important moments in my life including birthdays, parents’ anniversaries etc. while I was away from them.

The second way that ABG group is big in my life is through its fashion and retail segment which has largest fashion network with over 11,000 points of sale, which includes around 2500 exclusive ABFRL brand outlets across 750+ cities and towns, 4900+ multi-brand outlets and 4000+ departmental stores touching lives of thousands of people across the country. When it comes to shopping its brands like Pantaloons, People and Forever 21 attracts me the most because of the speed with which they come up with the new trends in the market.

As per Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, “Failure is not fatal, failure is inevitable. If you don’t fail, it perhaps means you aren’t taking enough risks”. I spent my childhood with enough pampering by my parents. During my initial childhood days, I used to be surrounded by my family and close friends only. When I was 13, I left my house and shifted to a relative’s place for the first time in order to pursue further education. So, it was time to meet new people, make new friends in a new city that was unknown to me. On my first day to school, there I was surrounded by unknown people and my life became full of uncertainties─ whether I would match up with the new environment or not. I couldn’t get connected with anyone in school and this made me cry that day. The next day I went to school, this time I initiated and tried making new friends and realized that it wasn’t that difficult after all.
Later in life I overcome my fear of meeting new people as well as shifting to new places. I treated it as an opportunity to connect with them and to find out what they are good at. I have been focusing on the positives that everyone I meet possess which constantly helps me to improve my way of thinking and conduct. Participation in sports tournaments and competitions like Model United Nation that are conducted by various colleges has always provided me the necessary exposure to interact with others and to get connected with them. One ice-breaking effort in childhood has given me the lesson of initiation towards others and letting go the fear and hesitation. I have followed it throughout my life so far and it has been giving amazing results.
