Aditya Birla- Big in My Life
Shopping is the favorite pastime for most of the people like me. When we think of going to a mall, the brands that come to our mind these days are the affordable brands like Pantaloons, Forever 21, Peter England and royalties like a Ralph Lauren. All these famous brands have been provided to us by an Indian Multinational Conglomerate which is Aditya Birla Group. ABG has been making significant contributions to India, by bringing facilities and brands that were once unavailable and thus widening the choice for people like us.
Aditya Birla Group is big in my life because it has provided me with all my favorite exotic brands for shopping. It caters to the informal as well as formal apparel, stylish and trendy as well as basic and casual wear. Apart from shopping, it has also provided the telecom service which helps me stay connected to my family and friends in a hassle-free manner. Having resided in Mumbai, the Bandra- Worli Sea link travel was always something I waited for and it gave me immense excitement and joy of having to travel through the immensity of the Arabian Sea. The cement that was used to create that same strong and beautiful attraction, Bandra-Worli Sea Link was Ultratech cement, a child of ABG.
Along with providing services, Aditya Birla Group has also been very successful in terms of its Corporate Social Responsibility. It had made significant changes in Healthcare sector. It has helped deaf and dumb children by providing them a new life as they can now speak and listen. It has also helped raise awareness about HIV-AIDS. It has also made significant changes in the education sector and contributed towards girl’s education and has made efforts in teaching conversational English. It has contributed its share to make the world a better place to live.
My story about Challenges in life so far
From the age of 16, when my elder sister moved out for further studies, I dreamt of moving out of my house and experiencing the independent life. I pictured independence in my head and used to become happy. I was eager to complete my 12th boards and start living life on my own terms.
Then finally the day came when I had to leave Jabalpur and go to Mumbai for my studying further. I was naïve and very excited until that moment came when my parents left me to live in the hostel. It was the exact moment when I realised how weak I really was.
I was an introvert, who preferred staying in her own comfort zone. I was not very comfortable in making new friends, and I always wanted one person whom I can count on. But in Mumbai I was all alone. Moreover, I was also scared of public speaking and was not very confident of myself. My coursework at my college (NMIMS) demanded a lot of presentations and group interactions which was when I had to adjust to a new city as well as to the demands of the college.
Initially I was aloof and used to be in a negative state of mind. Then gradually, courtesy of all the group assignments and group tasks, I started interacting with people and found myself enjoying the interactions and getting to learn a lot of things from a lot of different people. And very soon, I was no longer the fearful, little girl but a confident girl moving ahead and seeking excellence. And the city that initially scared me, became the “Aamchi Mumbai” for me too.
