Aditya Birla group has always been a famous name, ever known in the business area but I didn’t know how more prominent role it was playing in my daily life until I decided to enter this ‘ABGLP WOO ME’ competition.
Of course, I know some famous brands (famous in my arena), i.e. Ultratech, pantaloons, Vodafone idea limited etc. but to understand how much big they have become in my life, I had to go for a digging. And, the learning was great. Currently, they are present in more than 30 countries with a strong force of over 120,000 employees, touching the lives of over a billion people. It really intrigued me, how they must have started, what they must have done to become so prominent today. And the answer was the ideals and visions of two legendary leaders, their founding fathers- Mr Ghanshyam Das Birla and Mr Aditya Vikram Birla; they led the foundation of this mammoth conglomerate with the values such as integrity, commitment, passion, seamlessness and speed. When you look at these words, the weight it carries, it is vast and so is the result when you follow them. They started this company way back in the 19th century when the times were so arduous, and still, they succeeded, overcame every difficulty.
When you look at the story of ABG, the milestones they have achieved continuously, the hurdles they have faced and succeeded, it gives you a feeling of awe and inspiration. Moreover, when I try to connect it to my own life, my hurdles, my challenges, be it IIT JEE, work, MBA etc., I could co-relate that the success always comes to people who are committed, have integrity and are full of passion.
Don’t forget; you are the hero of your own story.
This line speaks to me at so many levels which even I can’t fathom. When I see my life through my own eyes, it was never easy, I was not born with a silver spoon, but then, I guess it was never supposed to be.
The ups and downs of school life (which at that time were huge) and then the first big set back for me was when I first sat for IIT JEE and couldn’t crack it. The time was tight, my first big failure and no one wanted me to go for the second attempt, but somehow deep inside me, I knew I just needed one more try. Failure is there to make you even stronger, and I decided to go for it against the wishes of all others, and it worked, I cracked the JEE and joined one of the most reputed IIT in India. But life didn’t get easy after that, one after another hurdles keep coming. Coming from a small city in Madhya Pradesh, I always knew that to fulfil my dream; I must move to a big city, I have to face my demons. Be it the new culture, new people, different thinking, different lifestyle, all showed me that the life I want needs to meet failures and disappointments but the only way to reach there is to hold your head high and do the things with passion, integrity, hard work and commitment.
