It has been an unsung hero whose value has been well realized by India Inc. ABG has been BIG in form of lifelines to me. The railways-a majority of whose body is Birla copper has helped me reach uncharted territories and come close to my near and dear ones. ABG big telecom revolution the IDEA-Vodafone segment has made distance disappear and we are just a few seconds away from almost every other person in this world-a call away, a text away or a video conference away. ABG is present in every element of my home. Ultratech Cement segment's values of integrity and commitment have been personified in the constructions all over the country from big (the Bandra-Worli sea link) to small(our own house).ABG has made things big by putting efforts into microscopic details as well, as is seen in Birla tyres where its aim has been to make people's life safe by implementing Birla tyres nano-particle technology. Being a user of Birla tyres has made my life safer to an extent. Any challenge can be conquered when you are impressive and in the quest to being impressive- half the battle is won when you dress up well!!! ABG's various fashion brands make sure you are ever-ready for any corporate challenge when I put up a Louise-Phillipe blazer on Peter-England formals."Taking India to the world" is a dream that is getting realized.
One of the most inspiring aspects of ABG has been its values!!! The value of giving back to society. As Rajashree Birla says "Giving is, in fact, living" ABG teaches not just to live for yourself but also live to make life easy for people around you. ABG's venture into education and rural development has always been a feather on its cap. ABG believes that a part of your profits should be always ploughed back towards meaningful welfare-driven activities aimed at the larger good of society. Today, the culture of caring and giving is very much a part of its DNA which I would like to inculcate in times ahead.
Not getting stuck at one place and venturing into new avenues is a life lesson to be learnt form ABGLP. When I was stuck in a not very exciting job during my 22 months of the corporate stint I realized I should be striving to achieve big. I did not want to get stuck in that job role that was not exciting. I had to manage my time, put in extra hours because, from a technical job role, I was looking to switch to a business side of thing where I would get the insights of how corporate functions. The programme has been designed to put people into new roles that bring the best out of them. Apart from doing the technical task, I was responsible for leading a 15 member project where I was responsible for identifying risks, tracking issues and coordinating across the cross-functional teams.
The core values of Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and Speed are values that I can align with myself it would be an overwhelming experience to have a chance to work with a group that has been an integral part of one's life.
