Aditya Birla Group: Part of our everyday lives.
Aditya Birla Group is one of the biggest multinational conglomerate, headquartered in Mumbai, India. It is in the league of Fortune 500 and operates in various sectors. The group has interests in telecom, BPO, fashion and retail, chemical, cement, financial and IT services. Aditya Birla Group has become a major part of our lives without even us realizing it. From the necessities to luxury indulgences Aditya Birla Group provides it all. It caters to the needs of the people in every sector.
In my life, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail has played a major role and continues to do so. While I was pursuing my under-graduation in Bengaluru, I came across a brand called People which had affordable, funky and everyday college wearing clothes. This became my go-to brand for college apparel. Coming to my journey to a B-school, proper business formals become a part of your everyday life. In India, it is difficult to find proper business formals for women and not many options are available. Aditya Birla Group comes to our rescue and provides us with formal brands such as Van Heusen and Allen Solly which has a wide range of collection of all types of women formals, semi-formal and casual wear.
Being a millennial today’s time is all about fashion and people enjoy themselves wearing fashionable clothes which makes them feel confident and good about themselves. Since most of us are students and are still studying Aditya Birla Group provides us with affordable fashion brand Forever21 which has become a go-to brand for every student. The brand has a wide variety of fashionable collections of clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, etc.
Apart from fashion, Aditya Birla Group is a part of our everyday lives such as Vodafone, Ultratech Cement, Planet Fashion and Pantaloons. We use this daily without even realizing that all these are a part of ABG.
How I overcame my Challenges to achieve my ambition in life so far?
I come from a small town Cuttack, Odisha where I have spent my childhood and completed my schooling. I live in a joint Marwadi family. So my family always had the thinking that if you’re a girl you have to get married and it depends on your in-laws whether they want you to be independent or not. Thankfully my parents were way ahead of this thinking and wanted me to stand on my own feet and live my life. When I completed my schooling, I decided to study science further and pursue engineering. My uncles used to say why you want to do engineering being a girl. This is not a girl’s profession and you can sit at home and study commerce.
I used to tell them that this is what I want to do and will not study anything which I’m not interested in. My parents were standing beside me and were the pillars of strength. They were supportive of my decisions and understood my thirst for learning.
After completing my Bachelor of engineering, I decided to do an MBA to further enhance my learning. Obviously, my family was apprehensive of my decision, but I didn’t pay heed to what others were saying about me or what they wanted me to do and here I am today writing this article sitting in the hostel rooms of one the premier B-schools in India, XIMB.
I will always be thankful to my parents for standing up for me and against the society. They stuck with me through the thick and thin and will continue to do the same. If I am something today and go on to be successful in the future, it is all because of the selfless love and support of my mom, dad and my sister.
