Any conglomerate which is operating in about 35 countries, employing roughly 120,000 people and has had a history of more than 160 years is bound to have a significant influence on the industrial culture and the economy as a whole of the country.

Aditya Birla Group has seen India going through some arduous times. Starting by trading in cotton, it marked its presence in critical sectors like textiles, fibres, aluminium, cement and chemicals.

Being a conglomerate, ABG has touched millions of lives including mine. Be it wearing a Louis Phillipe suit for a job interview or using freshwrapp for tiffins everyday there are many brands which I have used.

I still remember the first time I held a mobile phone. It wasn’t just the handset but the network that made it special. Idea true to its brand identity was reliable and I have always used it.

But it was not just the brands, or their marketing strategies that made them success amongst people. These brands strongly resonated with the culture of Aditya Birla Group.

A culture that has deep roots was strengthened by the ideals of visionaries like Mr. Aditya Birla and Mr. Ghanshyamdas Birla.  It was their vision that has vastly contributed in the success of the company.

Owing to such a rich business heritage, over the years Indians have associated ABG brands with trust and this trust is well on its way to be extended on a global level.

So it is not just my life that ABG has impacted but millions of others who I am sure will continue this relationship of trust for years to come.

If you have ambitions you will have challenges. That's because there will be many who are trying to achieve the same thing as you are.

Not just that but there are various factors that might influence you and the decisions you take. And for a management student challenges are part of the daily routine.

Before joining B-school, like other MBA aspirants I have been through a rigorous selection process which involves lakhs of students taking an aptitude test followed by an interview round and a group discussion round.

Along with exam preparation, I was also working then as a Software Engineer. So I had to manage work along with studies. To top it all, my sister's marriage was at the same time. It was a real challenge. Despite these challenges, I was motivated because I believed that these were three different things. I will never lose motivation if I am involved in a variety of tasks.

I am an avid trekker and I consider every challenge as a summit which I have to scale.

And for an engineer I don't think so there is a better teacher than the 4 years of graduation to get through any difficulty.

Legendary Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid initially faced difficulty in ODI format. But he persisted and overcame all the challenges and silenced all the critics.

Sometimes it is not the circumstances or your abilities that pose as challenges but people around you that might bring you down. One might face criticism at various stages, but that shouldn't dampen our spirits.

What is the fun in having an easy triumph? The exhilaration of victory is much more satisfying if the journey has been an arduous one.

It is just a matter of perceiving these challenges as opportunities. Opportunities to help you give your best. Opportunities that prepare you for the worst. And opportunities to be a better version of yourself.
