Starting from cotton trading operations in Pilani, Rajasthan (1857) to become India’s third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate is a journey to be appreciated and learned from. From the house I live in to the clothes I wear, Aditya Birla Group has always been the part of my life, the best thing I like about ABG is how they have changed the style of the fashion industry time to time, let’s see how:

  • In 1988 it started ‘Madura Garments’ which was India’s first national-level business to focus on fashion and retail.
  • In 1989 it launched 'Louis Philippe' giving a new dimension to the men’s wear market in the industry.
  • In 1990 it launched 'Van Heusen' in India to revolutionize work-wear. The brand gives a new meaning to the term ‘Power Dressing’ and with launch of “Allen Solly” a new category of clothes named smart casuals is introduced in India.
  • In 1997, “Peter England” was launched which became the top selling brand in India.
  • In 2012, Aditya Birla Nuvo Limited (ABNL), largest manufacturer of linen fabric in India, acquires Future Group's Pantaloon format, a part of Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited (PRIL). The acquisition is in line with the Group's strategic intent to create the largest integrated branded fashion player in the country.
  • In 2016, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail signs international deals with global luxury brand 'Ted Baker' and British Designer Wear Brand 'Simon Carter'. An MOU with 'Forever 21' for India Business is signed.

I love ABG for its innovation in fashion industry, how it changed the mindset of people & made available luxury brands affordable to middle class people. Tapping right market at right time with a calculated risk factor is the way of business which ABG follows. It has been a big inspiration in life, and gave me the confidence to dream big with a belief that it is achievable.

How did i overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far.

Life is all about cherishing the present, working for future and learning from past, that is the main thing I have learned from my journey till now. Everyone faces difficulties in their lives, and each difficulty is relative to an individual as for one its can be a big problem, and for other a small hurdle. Living in a big joint family I learned about various ups & downs in life, while I also learned how working together makes problem easier.

My family owns a small retail business, and from an early age I had to sit on my shop and manage my studies with it. It was a challenge for me, but the experience I gained from that work actually helped me to shape up my dream. The experience actually became my uniqueness as from small age of 13 I started understanding the customers, the value of money and in total how businesses work.

I always try to keep myself happy, and being optimistic always helped me to overcome my problems. I belong to a society where  people will compare your life with others and judge you on basis of that, so even if you are happy of what you are doing you will feel bad because you are not been able to do something which someone is doing, so to overcome this feeling and being satisfied of who you are is something which keeps me going.

My one of the biggest ambitions which I accomplished was to grow my retail business, for which I used my studies & new perception to attract new customers and building relationships with them. Supported my family by bringing more customers, and also got to learn that if a person gets big area to make mistakes & do experiments, he will succeed at last in his ambitions.
