Aditya Birla Group is one of the oldest businesses of India. Founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in the 19th century, the business initially only traded in cotton. However, in the 1850’s the business flourished under Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla, also known as the Founding Father of the group. He expanded the business by setting up industries in sectors like textiles and fiber, aluminum, cement, and chemicals. But what put the group in the limelight was when Mr. Aditya Birla, grandson of Mr. Ghanshyam, decided to be the first person in India to venture into global business. An interesting fact to be noted is that this decision was made by him in 1969, way before the globalization reforms came in India.
Presently, Aditya Birla Group has grown to become an Indian multinational conglomerate and humongous force of 1,20,000 employees belonging to 42 nationalities. It is also a Fortune 500 company worth US $44.3 billion. The group is part of all sectors like banking, branded apparel, carbon black, cement, financial services, general, insulators, mining, non-ferrous metal, pulp and fiber, research and development, telecom, textiles, trading and chemicals. It is almost impossible to not be serviced by this amazing group. One of their cement companies, Ultra Tech Limited, is the largest manufacturer of cement in India. It provides the entire variety of products that will be needed in all areas of construction. Another popular brand of theirs is Vodafone Idea Limited, a partnership with the Vodafone Group. It is one of the initial cellular services provided in India and it is known by every second person in India. Aditya Birla Group is also responsible for most trendy branded apparel's like Pantaloons, Planet fashion, People, Ralph Lauren, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and many others. So, it is quite obvious this group has one way or another to be part of the Indian life!
