I live in a quintessential Indian family of 4, where a normal day starts with my mother packing lunch for my father, using the Freshwrapp foil for  which  she has developed a trust over time, my sister opening up the Forever 21 dress which she bought last night from a mall, me going out to meet a friend in a Louis Philippe driving a Hyundai car, parts of which come from Novelis and the most important thing for an Indian family, the house they live in, foundation of which is made strong by Aditya Birla Cement. Most of you would relate to my story and would think what’s so special about it, it’s a brand that has become a part of every Indian household in one way or other, Aditya Birla is indeed the Batman of our lives, omnipresent, making life of the people a plain sail and yet we fail to notice.

A brand started before independence has slowly made way in to our lives and has taken care of all our needs from the car we drive to the house we live in, to the clothes we wear and the money we invest. Yes, all of that under the Aditya Birla umbrella. Aditya Birla has played a pivotal role in Indian market, from Mr. Ghanshyamdas Birla setting up the foundations during the time of freedom struggle, to Mr. Aditya Birla putting the company and India on the World Map during the globalization era and integrating the Indian economy to that of the world, the company has established itself as a Premium conglomerate delivering superior values to customer, shareholders, employees and society at large.

For an Indian company to have operations across 35 countries and revenue$44.3 billion is no mean feat. Aditya Birla as a conglomerate is a leading player in various sectors such as metals, textiles, carbon black, telecom, cement and many more. All these achievements and yet what we learn is the values that the company believe in, being named AON best employer of the year 2018 proves that people are the biggest asset of this conglomerate.

The Journey from a small town

I belong to a small town in Rajasthan and was fortunate enough to be sent to a private school by my parents, though being a small town,  the school did not have many facilities,  so we had to learn things the hard way, I passed out of my school and was unaware of the world around, did not know what to do next, where to go, which college to choose, but one thing that was with me was my hard work and dedication and through that, the boy from small town was able to get into one of the best universities in India. I was amongst the first few students who went on to graduate and make the big stage.  Going to a college and competing with students all over from India was a great challenge, people used to have conversations in English, which being from a small town was a task for me. I flew to the college all alone, since my parents did not know how to take a flight back home, Chennai being the big city it is, was a maze for me, I struggled having conversations with people due to the language barrier, I reached the college, got over my fears one day at a time, from speaking in English to giving presentations, to go out and explore the city, everything was a  struggle initially. But the never give up attitude and the aspirations kept me going. Its 2019 now, I have worked for one of the best companies in the world and pursuing my dream of an MBA. Now that look back and remember the guy who had just passed his 12th standard exams and never stepped out of the town, I feel proud of not giving up on my dreams and become an example for the students in town. We always focus on what life has not given us, the thing that we should focus on is what we make out of what we already have, and believe me, it would work wonders.
