Yesterday, I searched Aditya Birla Group on different platforms especially on LinkedIn while completely being unaware of the fact that most of the clothes I possessed, either was in house brands of Aditya Birla Group or owned by them. What I found was 34 pages of Aditya Birla subsidiaries on LinkedIn with 10 results on each page. It is such a huge organization.
The conglomerate has not just influenced the Fashion domain but their vast presence can be found in Chemicals, Minerals and Capital as well. The Aditya Birla Group has been ranked fourth in the world and first in the Asia Pacific in the ‘Top Companies for Leaders’ study 2011, conducted by Aon Hewitt, Fortune Magazine and RBL (a strategic HR and leadership Advisory firm). The Group has topped the Nielsen's Corporate Image Monitor 2014-15 and emerged as the Number one corporate, the 'Best in Class', for the third consecutive year.
Being a girl, I would not hesitate in admitting that I like shopping and as mentioned in the very starting that Aditya Birla’s subsidiaries have been often my one-stop solutions for all my fashion purchases both online (ABOF) and offline (Pantaloons).
However, this was not the only way I stayed connected with the organization. My friends and family have invested in Aditya Birla sun life mutual funds as a means for extra income through their investments. Due to them, I also started investing through the Paytm money app. Not having a finance background but a lot of interest and curiosity, Paytm money allows a simple interface to interact with mutual funds of many companies, but due to my family and friends, I indulge with Aditya Birla Capital only.
I know now that Aditya Birla Group, with its name and its branches, holds strong in every home and office. Every person has been in contact with this Brand one way or the other.
I was born and brought in Chaibasa, Jharkhand, a place whose identity can be mostly be described by its distance from Jamshedpur. Challenges keep coming in an individual’s way from the time one is born and it is up to them how they take those challenges.
The first challenge for me was Mathematics. It was difficult for me to accept the fact that I was weak in Math and no matter how much I try scoring good marks, it remained a difficult task. This made me also think that if others can, why not me? The passion in me to overcome this failure was so strong that it developed an interest in the subject, which later on became a source of motivation. I took Mathematics for my graduation, which was a complete big step in my career.
As a girl, the other challenge for me was breaking the stereotypes of girls not moving out of the state or travelling a distance more than 12 hours of the journey, especially for studies. Overcoming this challenge, I reached Delhi for my studies. Challenges when taken as an opportunity to succeed starts acting as a catalyst for our ambitions and if worked hard, nothing is unachievable. Both these thoughts led me to think “if others can, why not me?” every time I faced a challenge.
Currently, I am pursuing management studies and I aspire to be a powerful woman in the future. At every level, I have been tested multiple times and it will continue so in the future as well. The words stated to me by my father while I was leaving for my management studies keep popping in my head every time I am scared of these challenges. He said, “People find the situation difficult to handle only when they aren’t prepared. So, stop worrying and start being prepared for them.”
With watching the Ultratech Cement Advertisements on television, using IDEA cellular network at home, buying big brands at outlets and online, and much more, Aditya Birla Group has always been a part of me and my life.
