The ABG group must have faced many challenges over the years, but each time they perceived it as an opportunity. The leaders believed in the passion they had and took the group to peaks of success. I can relate this passion to something very similar in my life. In my final year of graduation, we were a group of 10 students who started a social initiatives club in college to provide educational assistance to the underprivileged children. The target group was the school going children of the blue collared workers who worked our college. We leveraged the college infrastructure and the knowledge capital of our peers to start a classroom program for those students. We came across many challenges like motivating the students to pursue their studies, building the trust of anxious parents, fund raising, finding genuine volunteers and many more similar tasks. We found unique ways of raising funds and creating awareness to highlight the work we did. We steered through all these together and were able to even expand our horizon to make a profound impact. Eventually we could manage to lend out a hand to local orphanages and schools for specially enabled children. Our main strengths were the huge number of students and the passion we had to do something for the society. Our juniors did an extremely good job to carry forward the work we started. In fact they were able to reach out and help more number of students. Today there are hired teachers to take care of the classroom sessions. The club is striving hand to mouth as fundraising still remains a crucial problem till date. Yet the student volunteers have never given up and are working very hard to tackle this. In spite of all odds, we have been able to make an impact by taking care of the ‘NEEDS’ of our society and I feel gratified to be a part of it.
