It was mid of January and I was having the lowest moment of my life. After working hard for 8 straight Months for the MBA entrance exams, all my results were out, and I had zero calls from the colleges I had applied for and dreamed of attending. I remember the day vividly when the results came out. It was the first time I had experienced failure and it was the biggest I could endure. Tired and lost, I desperately wanted a way out. After imagining all possible scenarios of what could have been, I concluded that I shall not ponder over my failure and just look at what all I can do to save my career from having a downfall.
For the next few days, I spent my entire days looking for Jobs online. From websites of various Companies to Naukri.com I left no stone unturned to look for a decent job to compensate for the lost time. While spending my time on these sites, I stumbled upon an email ID of an HR from KPMG. Being from a commerce background, I always wanted, at least once, to work for the Big4. I emailed my resume and a cover letter to the Email ID mentioned on the site. To my surprise, within 15 minutes I got a revert which stated that my interview for the post I had applied for was scheduled for the next day. I had got a chance to redeem myself from all the failures I had faced in the previous months. Full of motivation and excitement, I directly went to the nearby Van Heusen store and bought myself a set of Business Formals. It was the first time I was wearing a suit and at that moment I knew why the people who wore a suit looked extremely confident.
The next day, after clearing the first round of the interview. As soon as I entered for the second interview, the manager looked at me and complimented me on my choice of Tie and asked me which brand it was. That compliment boosted my already high level of confidence and I replied proudly, Van Heusen. The follow-up questions which were asked of me, along with some other questions related to my education background, were about the brand Van Heusen and the other brands which came under the umbrella of Aditya Birla Group.
Eventually, I got the job and got to work with one of my dream companies. Now, I am a proud student of SIBM Bengaluru and guess what? I cracked the interview of this prestigious B-School wearing the same set of Business Formals I did before.
