Part A: Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life
Aditya Birla Group has been the brand which I always want to get associated with in my professional life. Running a company with such a diverse portfolio is a very tedious task but this company has set the benchmark doing such an amazing job in carrying their brand image for 162 years. Aditya Birla Group has given full justice to its tagline “Taking INDIA to the world” by expanding their business in 35 different countries. This group has proved that it can be business leader in every sector they step in. The segment which has a big impact in my life is Aditya Birla Fashion and Clothing. I believe that Aditya Birla Group has done exceptionally well in the industry. Currently ABG has acquired all the major Indian clothing brands be it their multi brand store Pantaloons and Planet Fashion or their premium brand Louis Philippe and VanHeusen. Now ABG has even a stronger hold in the market by buying the Indian rights of the multi-national brands like Ralph Lauren, Hackett and Forever 21. Aditya Birla Group has acquired the place in everyone’s wardrobe. And its just not about owning these brands, ABG has done a tremendous job in giving the best quality clothes through these brands, which in itself is an excellent business skill. And not only quality they have products in all price range so no customer leaves disappointed from any of the store. I have always been a huge fan of their business model and their diversified portfolio. The management has left no stone unturned in making this brand a true market leader in all segments. Aditya Birla Group may be the Jack of all trades but at the same time it is also the master of all.
Part B: How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far
I always believed that diversification of knowledge is a very important skill that should be acquired in order to achieve one’s goal. And that is the reason why I wanted to pursue my MBA just after completing my bachelor’s degree in computer science. There had been a lot of resistance as to why I wanted to choose a completely different field of study. There had been a lot of questions regarding the choice and why pursuing masters in computer science is a better option for me. But I was very clear with my ideology that I want to learn business and getting admission, as a fresher, in a premium B-school was difficult. At the same time engineering college added extra pressure of projects, examinations etc. It was getting difficult to manage time for both. But if I had to convert my goal to reality, I had to keep my priorities straight and needed to have a good time management skill. I started working smartly, tried to maintain a perfect balance between the both, till I got admission to Goa Institute of management. I believe, to achieve any goal in life you need to ignite the spark that keeps you going through the tough times. It is that fighting spirit that keeps forcing me to get up each time I fall. Never give up on what you want to achieve in your life. For me it has always been about my dedication and pushing my limits higher. Because in the end its me who I have to prove that I am worthy of what I have achieved in life. So for me, the only mantra to overcome my challenges and tread towards achieving my ambitions is dedication and to give the best shot whenever I do something.
