The group was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. The group has interests in viscose staple fiber, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services.

How it has affected my life:-
The company is touching lives of every Indian in some way. It has touched my life too.
My home which is present in Mohali used ultratech cement. There are lot of memories which I made there and I would like to thank birla group for helping me in building those memories.
I am a keen lover of shopping. Before this I didn’t know that van heusen, Peter England, Louis Phillipe are all the part of Aditya birla group. These all outlets are my favourite shopping destinations. The first shirt which I bought for my father was from van heusen. It was the best feeling to see my father wearing the shirt and going to office was priceless.
The first sim which I bought when I left home for the first time was Idea. The message and data packs were the only way to connect with family as well as friends at a very reasonable rates.
My mother used to wrap chapattis for lunch in freshwrappes. The foil helped in retaining the freshness of lunch and ensured my mother that I always have fresh food. Right now I can count only these but it has affected my life in so many ways.
Challenges:-
Like the Aditya birla group, I have also overcome challenge which life has thrown upon me.
Last year my mother was diagnosed with disease. My brother was going for further studies.I knew that my father would not be able to look after his job as well as my mother simultaneously. The treatment was going in Chandigarh but my father was working in Himachal. Then I decided to leave my job and look after my mother. I used to take my mother to hospital and look after all the appointments as well as medicines.I gave her moral support too. To make use of time judiciously I prepared for MBA entrance exams.
Patience I felt was the key for me to overcome the challenge. At difficult times, I was always patient and never let the situation to take a toll over me. I knew that time is the giver as well as the healer of the problem. It is just how patiently you face the situation and give your best every time to come out of it.
There was instance in office. I was part of only 4 members time. One team member used to work on Saturdays and Sundays. Only 3 people worked on Thursdays and Fridays. On one Thursday, one team member was on leave and other was not feeling good. Only I was available for that day. My team leader asked me not to go to the office to make manager realize about the issue. It was against my belief and I took it as a challenge. The sense of facing the problem with courage and don’t act like coward drove me to face the challenge.
