Aditya Birla Group Limited (ABGL) is an Indian multinational conglomerate, headquartered
in Mumbai, India. The group has interests in viscose staple fibre, metals, cement, viscose
filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilisers, insulators, financial
services, telecom, BPO and IT services. It is the third-largest Indian private sector
conglomerate behind Tata Group and RIL. That being said, it is one of those companies which
has touched your life one way or the other and is a part of it, however small it may be.
One such product of ABGL that has played a huge role in my life is Vodafone (now Vodafone
Idea Limited). Vodafone has been in my family ever since it first entered India after purchasing
almost 2/3rd shares in Hutchison Essar Limited way back in 2007. Ever since then, it became
the first number for pretty much everyone in my family including myself; and the way it
continued to provide excellent services for its customers meant that the number of users just
kept on increasing everyday.
Fast forward more than a decade and it is still a part of the family. It is almost impossible to
imagine life without a cell phone these days and Vodafone has a huge role to play in it. The
connectivity and the service that it provides is unparalleled and with its recent merger with Idea
Cellular, it is now the largest telecom company in India by subscribers and by revenue.
This was one of the products of ABGL that has played a role in my day to day life. It is almost
impossible that your life has not been touched by ABGL; given the many different sectors that
the group has a presence in.
