Founded in 1857? Yep, you heard that right! That was probably before my great grandfather was even born. This conglomerate has been competing in and ruling the market for 160 years! The company now operates in 34 countries all over the world and employs more than 120,000 employees, belonging to 42 nationalities. They’re the largest producer of Viscose Fiber in the world, the largest manufacturer of Carbon black in the world, largest producer of rolled-aluminum in the world, world’s second largest in Telecom, India’s number one in fashion retail and own the largest cement brand in India. With that huge of a presence that they have in the Indian and Global market, how can it be possible for ABG to not have any impact on all of our personal lives?
Going back to my childhood days, I fondly remember playing tiffin box cricket with an aluminum wrap ball that my mom used to pack my lunch with. That’s the exact precious memory which strikes my mind when I see a Freshwrapp box. My father worked in a major Cement brand, which is not Ultratech Cement, and he worked in that organization for 35 years. I remember questioning his choice as I was just a 16-year-old boy brimming with curiosity. I was taken aback totally when I saw Ultratech cement bags being unloaded near my front gate and I looked at him puzzled because I did not expect that. He said, “No doubt, I trust the cement of the company I work for, but I believe in Aditya Birla Group more simply for the fact it is indeed the best in the market.” And that’s exactly what Aditya Birla Group is. THE BEST in almost every segment they have their presence in and the belief the consumers have on its products.
As I grew up and entered college, I started shopping on my own for myself and when I got to know that all my favorite brands that I have been sporting like Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Louis Philippe and Peter England are owned by Aditya Birla Group, I was flabbergasted! I see myself being part of this conglomerate, if not now but at some time in my future and I look forward to touching even more lives, Their glorious past, unmatchable legacy, ongoing success and their exciting journey into the future is what makes them stand out.
Challenge faced?
With every challenge comes an opportunity, something Aditya Birla Group strictly believes in. CAT was the biggest challenge I faced in my career and it changed me as a person entirely. It was harder than I thought it would be because I had an extremely tough job and I had to balance my preparations with it. Although I started with weekend coaching, I was still not able to cope up with my workload and I was on the verge of giving up. That is when my mentor suggested me to start planning my day a little better. He helped me make a daily schedule and I decided to adhere to it strictly. I thought it would not work but to my surprise, it worked well for me. My scores in mock tests started getting better and so did my percentile. I was able to finish my work at the office earlier and come home to focus on my studies. All those days and nights of hard work finally paid off in my final battle as I was able to secure a seat in one of the premier B-schools of the country. I am glad of not giving up at that moment, holding on to my patience and grit to work hard. This experience has also helped me largely to cope up with high levels of stress easily at my college now. If I’d like to give one advice to anyone, I’d say Don’t give up, be patient, practice hard and let time do its miracle!
