In class 9th ,I read a story “How I taught my grandmother to read” written by Sudha Murthy. And this story really inspired me and I decided to use my summer holidays to make useful for my grandmother. I arrived home and I embarked for this great journey of teaching her, but her response startled me. She vehemently opposed my idea.
I could not think of any way to make her study and learn to read. But God has some other plans ,I talked to another old lady from neighbour and she agreed to my proposal of teaching her with the condition that she has to study at my home.
From Next afternoon, I started teaching her. After few days, I could see sign that my grandmother wanted to learn, but the society views about educating old people kept her away. So I thought to spread this news to whole village, so that more people would come. This spreading of news really helped me and there were around 13-16 old person came to my house. Seeing this ,the rebel nature of my grandmother changed for good. And she agreed to learn to read.
