Part-A

From my childhood till now, products of Aditya Birla Group have always touched my life. From their Idea Cellular service which was my first SIM card to donning the white formal shirt during my interviews and formal sessions, I have been their regular consumer knowingly or unknowingly. From clearing my doubts with my friends during my initial school fiends over call or SMS to calling my mother to inform that I have reached my tuition safely, IDEA’s uninterrupted, pocket friendly service ensured that I stayed their loyal customer till date. I believe IDEA’s service have indeed honoured their promise of changing my life.

When I cleared my engineering entrances and the call came to go far south in Manipal from my home in Ranchi, the home-made food that was packed in “Freshwrapp” for my train journeys ensured that it remained the same in freshness and taste. From the first suit that I bought from pantaloons which I used in my Placement process in Engineering to the one that I am using now for the same in MBA, all of them were from Aditya Birla Group. As I reflect upon my journey with ABG’s products in my life, the thing that stands out is their promise of adding value and purpose in whatever products and services they offer to its users. I believe that is why the group is able create a Brand that is trusted in masses, adopted with open arms and is a dominate contributor in making India strong.

Part-B

Hailing from Ranchi, a Tier-2 city in Jharkhand, my career choices were mostly  driven by the socio-economic culture that the city had in my growing-up days. In my studies, I was fascinated by science, I did well in studies, took up engineering and got campus placed in a renowned brand which did engineering services. This is the point which most of my mentors and well wishers showed the path for. As my career progressed with the organisation, I felt the need for managerial skills which was needed to boost my career. I started preparing for admissions into Top B-schools for the country. Preparing for competitive exams, specially in country like India where competition is high and Work life balance is not so balanced, I failed at managing my time for preparations and being highly focused during those hours. I couldn’t realize where the problem was until my failed second attempt. I almost gave up the idea of doing a regular MBA. With my family supporting my decisions and close friends who encouraged me when it mattered, I decided to give it another shot. I changed my approach of managing my day. I set targets for every hour I was awake either doing office work or my preparations. I was able to clear the exams and got into a top tier B-School. As I write this I feel happy that my persistence and changed approach after my failures have helped me forge my future. I hope the lessons learnt during this phase will continue to be stepping stones in my future choices as well.
