Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?

While the Aditya Birla Group has had the first major impact on many people’s lives with their business but for me it was different. Thinking about the good old days of school when I didn’t know any better, the only thing that I was proud of was the fact that ours was the only school in the entire city to be affiliated to ICSE Board. We brazenly looked down upon the CBSE Board (my apologies) and thought the world was ours. Little did we know that there was a school some 30 miles away that had a league of its own. That it was a girls’ school we knew, but nothing more than that and nothing else really matter for boys of that age.

Part of the Birla Foundation and situated in Majkhali, Ashoka Hall Girls’ Residential School organizes an annual fest Abhyudaya in which schools from all across the country take part. So when presented with this opportunity to compete against other schools I didn’t hesitate to participate.

The moment I entered the gate of the school I was blown away. It was not about the campus. It was about the way the students carried themselves. The atmosphere. The frog was finally out of the well.

It was not just a prize that I had won I took back home that day. There was something more, that mattered more than winning, counted more than a certificate reinforcing your confidence.

It was humility. I understood that there are many better than me at everything that I do. I have to accept it and strive for greatness. When visionaries like late Mr B.K. Birla and late Sarala Birla laid the foundation of one of the many such schools, lessons were learnt even by non-regular students. Aditya Birla Group is big in many people’s lives because of its brands but for me it was more so because of its values.

How I continued on the path to success ?

Having learnt my lessons, I was appointed as the head of the Student Council and was entrusted with organizing an intra-school competition along the lines of Abhyudaya. There were a series of competitions to be held in succession with the students already been divided into four houses. The Student Council was solely responsible and there was no direct assistance from the teachers which was unprecedented. The event when conceptualized seemed to be lot interesting but preparing for the same turned out to be a really daunting task.

With complete authority given to the Student Council and being the first of its kind event being organized, expectations were very high. Ensuring that every student participates in at least one event so that he does not feel left out and overseeing the progress of each team while also maintaining the decorum in the campus, it was really difficult to maintain our composure amidst all this chaos. To be able to deliver under such immense pressure, I believe I have contributed to my class being remembered as a batch that did something different.
