Aditya Birla: Making a difference

The Aditya Birla Group is one of the premier business conglomerate of India. It started as a Jute Manufacturing Company in 1919, and subsequently transformed it to a leading multi-product corporation covering varied business sectors. The business activities of Aditya Birla Group spreads over 20 countries.

So, from continuing to use the Vodafone network since I bought my first cell phone to wearing a Van Heusen shirt for my first job interview, Aditya Birla Group has been a part of my life since I was growing up. Forever 21 is one of my all-time favorite brands, it is my go-to brand whenever I want to buy dress or even just casual clothes, it has a variety of merchandise to choose from. I used to always visit pantaloons with my mom to buy her new clothes from its ethnic selection, which is always trendy and fashionable and designed by the best designers from the industry. Ted Baker has been making unique and stylish bags which are liked by customers of different generations. Aditya Birla caters to the middle class as well as the rich by offering brands ranging from Peter England to Ralph Lauren. My mom is a regular with Freshwrapp and Freshpakk while packing lunches for work and effectively maintaining the freshness of food. Ultratech Cement has been ranked the number one superior quality cement for years in a row. Lastly, being a finance major, I aspire to work for Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL), the holding company of all the financial services businesses of the Aditya Birla Group.

Life is not always sunshine and roses, sometimes we have to go through really trying and testing times and still emerge victorious. I always loved dancing since I was a kid and started taking formal training from my teenager years. When I reached college, I joined the choreography society of my college to showcase my skills at a national level and continued dancing for years to come. Before starting my MBA, I, for the first time in my life decided to join a gym to get in shape faster and become fit. However, I lacked the basic exercise knowledge required and trusted the trainers there a bit too much. As a result, I ended up with a very painful knee injury which made it difficult for me to even walk, forget about dancing like I used to. My MBA was about to start in a month and I wanted to be fit and all set for college, but this injury left me crippled and unable to do the basic things I love.  I started everything from scratch, did physiotherapy and ate a number of medicines but nothing seemed to work. Staying away from dancing for this long made me cranky, irritable and angry and I was no longer fun to be around. My peers were starting to make this obvious and I decided to do something about this. Then I realized that pain and suffering are actually two different things, if I am in pain doesn’t mean that I need to suffer because of it. As I write this, I have actually given power to my mind over matter and stopped letting the pain get the best of me.  I might need surgery soon, but I have realized that everyone faces their trial sometime or the other and I am hoping that I’ll get back to dancing soon.
