I think no organization can survive in this business world for such a long period without having its values and beliefs in the right place and Aditya Birla group is one of the most revered organizations in the corporate world which tasted the spectacular success because of its core values and beliefs among other factors. It operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. The group was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. The group has interests in viscose staple fiber, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services.
Obviously, the Company needs to adapt with time but the values which are important for any business should never be compromised. The ABG carved out a mark not only in the domestic market but also in the global market due to its traditional values. The ABG was able to imbibe its core values on the next generations who followed it by letter and true spirit.
I didn’t know how to professionally get dressed. My initial college days where all in denial that I am looking professional. Unaware of the thought that your first impressions set the tone of everything, I missed the chance to impress executives in my project meetings. I heard the name of Van Heusen from a Bollywood Movie – Ghajini in which Aamir Khan was looking out of this world. As the Idea Ad states No Idea, Get Idea, I decided to change my outlook entirely and believe me or not, my confidence rose to its peak. The clothes where really very comfortable. I then went on to check out their various other brands under Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) and I was shell shocked. There were so many recognizable brands under their umbrella. Allen Solly, Van Heusen and Louis Philippe were few to name. Ever since then I have had a lovely relationship with them.
I was preparing for MBA exam since 2016. I was working in a reputed MNC and my schedule was really exhaustive. I used to stay 12 hours in the company as my project was really critical. I just couldn’t give time for my preparation. This continued for 3 years. I felt MBA will be a dream which I can never fulfil. But I kept studying for the examinations and gave whatever I could. It was tough, challenging and tiring. But after trying repeatedly I was able to crack NMAT exam and got through their rigorous selection process. It was one of the most important days of my life. The sense of satisfaction and the moment I saw the smile on my parent’s face was one of the proudest moments of my life.
