An 8 year young boy from a small town in Kerala after seeing people talking with an equipment asked his father what is that they are using. Till then he has seen only a telephone in his home which is kept on a stand with wires. His father replied it’s an ‘ESCOTEL cordless’, he believed that device name is ESCOTEL cordless. Years passed and when he started using the same ESCOTEL cordless phone and to realise things, he came to know that ESCOTEL was acquired by Idea Cellular. When the small kid matured, his parents bought him a branded shirt named ‘Louis Philippe’, he thought it would a foreign brand and checked about that. He realised it’s under the Madura Fashion & Lifestyle under the Aditya Birla group. It felt really proud to see Louis Philippe as Indian brand and till now my attire is majorly of Aditya Birla brands. Years passed and the small town in Kerala – ‘Kottakkal’ developed and the boy became an adult, when he got a job and he was not having good formal shirts, he went to a shop near his home named ‘Planet Fashion’ to buy formal dress for his first job. The young man from the southernmost state of India – ‘Kerala’ after getting his first salary he thought of gifting his father, but nothing came to his mind other than a ‘Van Heusen shirt’, he went to ‘Pantaloons store’ in Guwahati to get the shirt for his father.

During my internship stint with DCM Shriram Ltd, I came to know about Grasim’s market leadership in the Chlor Alkali industry.  It was really interesting to learn about the Chlor Alkali industry and my mentor during the internship was an ex Grasim employee where he worked there for more than 20 years.

During my work experience with TCS, I was in the project of Robotics and Cognitive systems, it was entirely a new area for me. As an engineer in Electrical and Electronics, my knowledge in the programming was not that great but got selected in one of the hot core areas in the technology. I felt really difficult in the initial days to work in entirely new area.  The spirit of learning provided me to dive into the field of Machine learning and robotics. From the starting itself, I was selected in two proof of concepts in entirely different areas. During the tenure there, as a developer in machine learning there was no proper team structure and the teams would be created as per the requirements. While working on a proof of concept for automating a bank system. On the day of the presentation with the client, I got a call in the morning that my manager is not well and he would be on leave that day and told me to do the presentation to the client. Till then I was not aware of how to do a formal business presentation to the client and tension started hitting me. There was no time to learn more things, I searched for the videos of business presentations and tried to understand how to articulate clearly to clients and what all things to be added while presenting. Being a core team member I had an understanding about the project. I made confidence myself and have given the presentation. Manager called me before starting the presentation and said to make the client understand about the application so that the Proof of concept will become a project. I really had a mixed feeling, one for the opportunity that I received and the other side as it was my first ever presentation. While presenting I tried my best to make the customers understand about our application. The experience that I received there was immense and is a lesson throughout my life.
