An "Idea" that changed my life

It was a chilly winter of January 2016 and students from the top five UP government engineering colleges started arriving in my college. One of India’s leading company was expected to arrive for the recruitment processes the next morning. It is not a rare scene in India where you can find students visiting in different cities just to capitalize an interview opportunity and to get an offer letter. However, this scene was different. This major company had already set a bar to the number of candidates they would like to give an offer letter to. Despite that colleges keep sending students on their expense just to experience the selection processes. This company was none other than one of India’s most trusted brand Aditya Birla Group’s Idea Cellular Limited. I also considered myself a candidate of sub-par skills who was there just to experience the selection process. God knows how I qualified written and technical interviews. But I was sure I would not be able to crack HR round as HR Head of UP East circle was himself conducting the final round. The final round started with usual “Tell me something about yourself”. At the end of my long mugged-up rhetoric, HR Head himself asked, “you mentioned that you like reading books, which book did you read recently”. I mentioned, “A monk who sold his Ferrari". It turned out that he was also a huge fan of the book and most of our discussion ends up quoting one-liner from that book. I knew I cracked it. After two long months, it was official.

My journey with Aditya Birla Group helped me understand how the conglomerate excels in every sector they chose to operate from inside. ABG is currently working in 35 countries in over 16 sectors from finance to health. The success of ABG lies in its core values which I observed every employee inheriting it as it has been their own. KM Birla himself consider the employee as his biggest asset.

In my short span of two and a half year with ABG, I observed ABG Group touching many lives directly and indirectly. ABG has provided many valuable products to their customers and hence maintained their legacy in the market. Apart from that, ABG always believed in giving back to society. In Idea Cellular Limited, we were part of many programs that involves promoting girl’s education, skill development and many other activities in the remotest part of India.

In a nutshell, ABG has impacted a million lives through its products in India and around the globe and created many other socially responsible professionals.
