Upon hearing about my interest, my girlfriend suggested me to write MBA exams (feeling like a Chandrika soap ad, right? ). Honestly, she was the first person to introduce me to the CAT exam and IIMs. Initially, I didn't give it much importance. In 2021, I took the CAT exam, but it didn't go well. However, I scored 97%ile in SNAP and received a call from SCMHRD, although I couldn't convert the call. Meanwhile, my girlfriend secured admission at IIM Kozhikode ( proud moment ). This motivated me to give it another shot. Driven by my passion for business, I started my own partnership venture called - FUTURE SOLAR while preparing for CAT.
Although I performed well in mocks most of the time, scoring 99+ percentile, my actual CAT 2022 performance was average. Once again, disappointment engulfed me. However, my girlfriend, without losing her spirit, pushed and supported me in other exams like IIFT, XAT, and SNAP. Interestingly by God grace, I scored 99+%ile in all these exams and secured admissions in different prestigious B-schools.
What I want to say is this:
1) Set an "end goal," chart the pathway to it, and then start dreaming, only then action and results come into play.
2) Be consistent, work hard, work smart and start to enjoy the process , Result will follow .
3) For competitive examinations like CAT, IIFT, XAT, and SNAP, try to "put eggs in different baskets," so that if one fails, you have other options as well. Since luck is a significant factor in these exams (DILR smiles in the background ).
4) Approach the DILR section with an open mind, as questions can come in any format or manner.
5) In the Quantitative Aptitude section, a two-round strategy is recommended. Swiftly tackle basic questions in the first round, then return to medium-level questions in the second round. Avoid getting stuck on difficult questions ( Spikes in exam , if get encountered you will get punctured ).
6) It's crucial to realize that solving the right and easy questions matters more than attempting all. Exempting questions holds equal importance to selection.
7) Bonus tip : While you are diligently preparing for your exams, it's important to strike a balance and appreciate the joys of life (Don't sit like a hermit). Take the time to indulge in activities that bring you happiness and make the most of your experiences.
