Before I wrote this, I did not actually notice how big ABG was in my life. But when I began thinking, the dots actually connected. Here goes the story-
Why Aditya Birla Group Is Big In My Life:
The most important value that my parents have instilled in me and I believe in, since the very beginning is TRUST. From the wrapping paper in which my mother kept my food (FreshWrapp), to the cement that my dad recommends his clients as an architect (UltraTech) are connected by just one name- ABG and one reason- Trust.
While growing up, all our clothes’ shopping was done from Pantaloons. Since they have over 200 brands to offer, I could always rely on it- be it Rangmanch for Indian wear or Honey for more casual occasions. As a 17 year old, getting into DU and exploring the streets of Delhi seemed really exciting to me and throughout the four years of college, Forever 21 was THE brand for me. Even after that, as life got busier, I moved to Abof and People through online shopping. Also, both in 2017 and 2019, when I had to give my interviews, I only trusted Van Heusen and Allen Solly for the perfect formal clothes and footwear. ABRF has always been the partner I needed and continues to be.
That is not it, the reliable cellular network I have been using for the past six years- Vodafone is also associated with the ABG group after they decided to become #StrongerTogether with Idea. Through the years, I have gone to remote areas in Himachal Pradesh and even as I have now shifted to a new city, I have still held onto the same network as it has always lived up to the trust I have placed in it.
And today, I trust that ABG is doing their bit for the earth by their #ThinkAboutTomorrowToday ideology. In every business venture, from Carbon to Textile, they give utmost importance to the environment and to developing sustainable technologies. THAT is the most important reason why I feel ABG is big in all of our lives.
Taking The Reins In My Own Hands- The Challenges And The Impact:
One of the biggest challenges of my life was to find something that I am passionate about and then going against my family to pursue it. Since I was a “bright” child in school, I was advised by my teachers and parents that I should take up science. And since at the time, I was not very aware of the world, I listened to them. After scoring good marks in boards, again I was presented by only two choices (the typical ones of course)- Engineering and Medicine. I took up engineering in my graduation. But very soon, I realized that I was spending most of my time outside the class. Networking with people, organizing fests and events, heading various societies, teaching children in slums was the highlight of my graduation and not the course. Even though I fared well in the exams, I had understood that this was not something that makes me happy and I do not wish to pursue it further. So after I finished my graduation, I decided not to rely on the college placements and started giving interviews in the field of Marketing. Fortunately, I had a job even before half the batch was placed and that too at a decent CTC. But I still had one more battle to go. It took courage to take a stand for myself. After some months and many fights later, they understood. Throughout the turmoil, I did not back down and kept believing in myself and my dreams. The step that I took that day proved to impact the rest of my life. Today, after working for two years, I am pursuing an MBA in Marketing so that I can expand my career from just content to a wider sphere of marketing and do what I am truly passionate about.
Closing I would just like to say that just as Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla believes that the similarity between a warrior and a businessman is COURAGE. I, as a student at SPJIMR believe that too, with all my HEART.
