Part-A

The one particular brand that reminds me of Aditya Birla Group more than anything is UltraTech Cement. Be it the Bandra - Worli sea-link, Statue of Unity or be it the mono rail, UltraTech has always been at the forefront of India’s infrastructural development. UltraTech has been always innovative and strived to serve the absolute best quality of cement to its customers. This can be best substantiated through its notion behind UBS or UltraTech Building Solutions which is a one-stop shop designed on the "plan, build and support" philosophy, which offers home building solutions right from planning to completion. UBS is based on a franchise model that caters to the building and construction needs of the individual home builders as well as the building and construction fraternity.

A brief look at the UltraTech website shows “Ghar banega No.1 jab Cement lagega No.1 and “Ghar ka sab kuch badal sakte hain par Cement nahi”, which in all its essence captures the dreams and aspirations of the IHB or Individual home buyers. With the introduction of UBS (UltraTech Building Solution) they have transformed from a cement- manufacturing firm to a building solutions provider which in itself is an innovative and a bold step. UBS in synergy with it’s vast product portfolio consisting of cement, super-cement, Birla-white, xtralite, seal & dry, readiplast, powergrout etc. and their customer value added services like vaastu advisory, cost calculator, how to videos and technical assistance provides the best end-to-end support during construction activities.

Part-B

During the placement season at VIT (Undergraduate), I was interviewing for a lot of companies day after day and preparing for the interviews night after night to make it through at least one. However, I still remember that difficult phase when I had faced straight 7 rejections over a span of 7 days. I used to wake up at 3 in the morning to study for CAT and had to get ready for that day’s interviews by 8am. After facing numerous preliminary rounds of various companies scheduled for that day, I used to come back to my hostel room by 6 in the evening. However, even after tasting failure back to back, I never ceased to sit for another round of interviews. I took it in my stride and ensured that I capitalize on these experiences, enough to prepare well for the next one. Eventually, my last interview at Junglee Games proved to be worthwhile, and I made sure that I had incorporated every previous learning in this interview. Finally, I did make it through and was offered an internship in the Analytics domain as a management trainee.

This strenuous period made me more aware of my strengths and shortcomings. Now, I have the courage to take unconventional decisions which are equally challenging and risky, but yet highly beneficial if executed correctly.
