Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been awestruck with the colourful and innovative multitudes of products decorating the shelves of the shops across the market alleys. Admittedly, I was, at that time, too young to fully appreciate my good fortune of living at a time when India was reaping the benefits of liberalization and the massive development of the hardware of the country, i.e. the roads, ports and industrial buildings were taking place. I marvelled the giant buildings sprawling through the cities and always wondered how such structures could be so tall and yet so strong. I was told that it was the cement that keeps the building bound together and makes them so strong. I still remember watching the advertisements of “Ultratech Cement” on televisions and feel a sense of pride development in India is taking place at a rapid pace.
Aditya Birla Group’s Ultratech Cement is the largest manufacturer of cement in India. It has played a big role in the development of the hardware of India, by producing and providing necessary construction products like cement, concrete and other allied products like construction chemicals, tiles, water tanks etc.
In this age of technological advancement, connectivity has become prime importance. Aditya Birla Group’s Vodafone telecom service has provided me with the necessary convenience of this age to connect with my family and friends through telecommunication and internet.
One of the most visually prominent impacts of Aditya Birla group on any millennial is through its fashion brands. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail limited hosts India’s largest fashion network with over 11,000 points of sale. The combination of elegant and trendy fashion brands under Aditya Birla group’s umbrella has provided me with a plethora of shopping options for every occasion.
Aditya Birla Group, which is one of the biggest multinational conglomerates in the world has impacted my life in innumerable ways from driving on roads and living and working in buildings made from the construction materials and equipment produced by Aditya Birla Group to using the telecommunication and internet services of Vodafone and experiencing the various shopping and fashion outlets of Aditya Birla Group. It has also impacted me by providing jobs to thousands of Indians and contributing massively in the development of the country which I feel so lucky to be born in. The combination of all these factors, coupled with Aditya Birla Group’s numerous other products and services, including financial services and even career prospects have made Aditya Birla group big in my life.
Lows to High
So far the biggest challenge I’ve faced in my life is the passing of my father in the year 2014 when I was still in the second year of my undergraduate college. It goes without saying that losing a loved one is extremely challenging both emotionally and psychologically. I had to deal with the excruciatingly emotional pain of losing a loved one and also gather enough courage to shake that feeling and adjust to the daily life of the college and continue striving towards the path of achieving my career goals. For me, the most difficult challenge was to get through those first terrible hours, when grief was at its maximum and denial overtook any rational thinking. Once the initial shock faded away and new realities set in, I made a point to look ahead in my life in the most prudent and rational way. I spent the next two years of my college, developing my personality and giving myself ample time to pursue my hobbies and interests while maintaining a good academic profile. In these two years, I won several sports and photography competitions and eventually got placed in a well reputed MNC.
This challenge, unmeasurably difficult as it was, has inculcated in me a deep sense of courage and belief. It has made me realize that life is short and the time to pursue my goals is now. It has given me immense strength to have the determination to pull myself up from any further challenges I might face in life.
What I’ve learnt experiencing this situation is that humans are incredibly resilient beings, especially on an emotional level. We tend to undersell ourselves in our abilities to handle the absolute worst situations, maybe as a hope that we might never have to face those situations but on those incredibly terrible moments when we are thrown head-on to face them, we display an immense amount of courage and come out of it much stronger.
I will most definitely face further challenges in my life but I have developed faith in my abilities to face them head-on, roll up my sleeves and get back to work to achieve my life’s ambitions and goals, exactly how I did so far.
