The Indian Institute of Management of Bangalore has its summer internship program scheduled in the middle of the second term (Term 2 starts in September). I always wanted to intern at a Consulting firm. The rationale behind the same: having a holistic understanding of various business functions and not restricting myself only to one function which I felt would make me very linear in thoughts and ideas. I personally feel for me the access point of growth begins when I’m exposed to unfamiliar tasks which are at the same time demanding and requires one to learn on the job and simultaneously deliver. This is also very much in lines with our MBA curriculum.

Before setting foot in IIM Raipur, my view on IIMs was that ‘All B-Schools are isolated from the intervening environments of anything that has nothing to do with management'. I wasn’t sure if I was at the right place when I entered the campus on 8th june 2018. The fact that the campus shares its plate with IIT Bhilai & the Govt. Engineering College amazed me. I was a bit hesitant about this but later got to know the good of it – Getting to know different kinds of people and manage them in my life.

This was back in 2016 December when I got totally devastated for not being able to write CAT examination. My preparation was good, but due to some sudden circumstances, I could not sit on the exam day. I was totally broken and frustrated seeing my other friends joining colleges. Then in 2017, I did not take much preparation but anyways I filled the CAT form. Then on the D-day, CAT went well and I received a decent percentile. Then comes the hard part – interviews essays etc. Somehow I came that through as well. Having a work experience of more than two years, doing an MBA just for the sake of doing it, was never on the cards for me, and I wanted to do MBA only if given a chance in one of the premier B-schools in India in order to really add value to my career.

When the CAP results were announced, I was confused between the newer IIMs. Almost every IIMs is on par. IIM Raipur was unique in many of the aspects including the support and guidance given by the seniors and the facilities like foreign exchange which is a luxury for all the newer IIMs. The process of IIM Raipur was very transparent.
