Many years ago, in a small town in Chhattisgarh(then Madhya Pradesh), was born a baby girl, and every person in the waiting room had tears in their eyes. Her parents cried tears of joy, her aunt had mere tears. She was not so thrilled about a girl in the family. Her aunt was raised in a village, where girls were not seen as achievers, but liabilities who needed to be married off as soon as they graduate.
It’s not just about growth or money. It’s about innovations, respect and the ability to make people happy that creates a legacy of more than 160 years. Excellence is achieved when a company becomes a part of someone’s life and helps them in achieving their dreams. Right from helping me to secure my future to providing me with the latest fashion apparels, ABG has become an important part of my life.
If there is one thing that an Indian can be absolutely sure of, it is that when the sun rises in the morning, the first ray of light will hit a product that is designed by the Aditya Birla Group. Founded in the year 1857, the last 162 years of the journey that the Aditya Birla Group has undertaken, has indeed set a benchmark for the other conglomerates to follow.
One of the biggest conglomerate Aditya Birla Group is not only growing in the market space by delivering its promises but also when it comes to corporate social responsibility, it has been allocating tremendous resources to improve the living and health standards of the people. It has been changing the lives of people by organizing medical camps and making people aware of various decisions. Under these camps, 50 children who were mute and deaf underwent a cochlear implant surgery. This activity has proved to be a life-changing experience for the children as they are now able to hear and to speak. In the education space too, the ABG is aligning its interest in the initiatives of Government of India by delivering the knowledge digitally through the medium of “KHEL”- a knowledge hub for e-learning. It provides a unique pedagogical approach in which smart visuals are used so that the children can learn subjects such as Mathematics, English, and science. Also, it sponsors a mid-day meal for more than 50000 children and provides transportation facilities too so that they can utilize the education facilities for their betterment. Additionally, it mentors more than 1000 aspirants for various competitive exams each year which enables them to find and tap the opportunities in the job market. It also empowers the people for enrolling into the skill development programmes through Aditya Birla Skills Foundation which provides training and opportunities to work in the areas such as automobile, service, BPO, retail, and logistics. Also, it provides a way to improve productivity through Integrated Livestock Development Centres.
In the average Indian household or even among the urban illiterates the name Aditya Birla Group, often known as the Birla Group rings a bell. They associate the name with a far-flung business empire with presence in almost industry. They are not very wrong, since this is wisdom passed down to them for several generations now. A US $44.3 billion corporation, today the Aditya Birla Group is active in 14 industry sectors and has achieved global and national leadership in several businesses.
It’s the final thirty seconds of your fight, your lungs are gasping for air, you can’t take the mental toll anymore, but you also know that these thirty seconds stand between you and that moment of glory. It’s at this moment where you conjure up all your strength, remember all the times you trained hard in the practice sessions and why you are standing where you are in the first place. This was just a metaphorical representation of what life could be like at moments, all the odds stacked against you to perform, but you still do, somehow anyway. Having tried to excel in all kinds of activities from a very young age, be it academics, extracurricular activities or just being the best football player on a field of 22, I realized pretty early on that all of these things didn’t come to me naturally. I wasn’t like some of the guys who were physically well built to play a sport or like some girls who had exceptional IQs to excel in a certain subject, but what I did have was the burning desire to be the best and do the best in whichever field I got into. To provide fuel to this fire, I just had one thing under my control and that was the amount of work I put in to achieve my goals, the amount of hours I put in practicing and the amount of sacrifices that I make. My only three ambitions in life thus far have been to represent my country on an international level, which I did manage to do in the field of Karate despite not having the physique of a Greek God. Second, I always wanted to excel in at least one subject and through my regular hours of practice, I did end up topping a lot of subjects at college, and eventually now I find myself at the hallowed portals of IIM Trichy. The last ambition that I had was to excel in the field of music, which I did by winning many accolades at college level and even at other independent competitions. The bottom line remains the same throughout, when talent doesn’t work hard, hard work beats talent, and that’s been the story of my life thus far.
