For as long as I can remember, it has been an urge for every single child, including myself, I have ever observed to “grow up”. The feeling of independence, security, your loved ones depending on you is one that has been exhilarating to every single child in the world. The number of children on earth is the same as the number of metrics that have been employed by children globally to measure if they have matured.
Challenges are a part and parcel of life. A life without challenges will be too boring. Challenges test your resilience towards difficult or unknown situations. They make you wiser and improve your capabilities. The most important thing is to challenge yourself to greater heights. Each challenge that you set for yourself should help you become better. One challenge I recently faced was cracking the interviews to get selected in a good company for my summer internship.
Aditya Birla Group contribution to Indian economy goes as back to almost a century before India's Independence. Its foundation started in Pilani, Rajasthan as cotton Mill. Today, the Aditya Birla Group is a $40 billion corporation and many of the group firms are in the league of Fortune 500 companies. The Birla in different ways represented India's diverse value: modern without sacrificing traditional values, fulfilling the economic responsibility towards the shareholder without surrendering the sense of public duty, gracious to invited guest and strangers alike. ABG group always tries to tap the synergy between its older and newer business.
Part A: Why is Aditya Birla Group Big in My Life? Spread over 34 countries around the globe, Aditya Birla Group has become a big part of my life. From being the world’s second-largest telecom operator, connecting and enabling thousands of people a day to being India’s largest cement manufacturer, building our homes to constructing highways to get there as well, Aditya Birla Group has become omnipresent in my life. Every cosmopolitan is recognized by a famous landmark that defines the skyscape of the city. Just like the way Sydney reminds us of its world-famous Opera house and Dubai of Burj Khalifa, back home, Mumbai is synonymous with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. This iconic civil engineering marvel was designed to connect the main city to its western suburbs, i.e Bandra to Worli. 0.1 Million mt of Ultra Tech Cement (Aditya Birla Group) went into the construction of Mumbai’s Bandra Worli Sea Link thereby contributing towards connecting India better. I was unknown of the fact that India’s largest cement manufacturer has helped in building this technological marvel which not only connects physical locations of Mumbai but also keeps the moments and memories that live in my heart burning. Like every Mumbaikar, it has become a pride for me, something that I can boast of in front of my friends belonging to other parts of India. For me, Bandra-Worli Sealink is a symbol of Strength as it has successfully stayed its ground since 2009 and has allowed millions of people to pass over it. Thus Aditya Birla Group has confined to its values of reaching out to millions and adding purpose to the lives of their customers.
I still remember that day, as if it had happened just yesterday! The nerve wracking preparation that went in, the anxiousness that was grappling me and the stage fright to top it all. I was in class 10th when I had been selected to represent my school for the Inter-school Declamation that was supposed to happen at the Pinegrove School, Subathu, Himachal Pradesh. This competition was extremely important for me and my school as we'd been consistently winning the 'best title' award for several years now. For about 3 weeks, we practiced intensely to master the act. For the competition, we had to prepare 3 topics by heart and present it well on the podium. Hence, I made sure to pen down each topic at least twice to thoroughly memorize it. For practice, I spoke almost everywhere and anywhere. I used to articulate my speech in the washroom while bathing (although our neighbors were completely annoyed because of it), in front of the mirror, in front of my pet dog who very innocuously stared at me, almost half worried, as I frantically moved up and down busy practicing the speech. Before the D-Day, I needed something clean and formal to wear. Hence, I visited the 'Allen Solly' showroom with my mother where I got the perfect outfit for myself. A day before the final showdown, I practiced in the morning assembly in front of the entire school and was extremely pleased while hearing the applause and the compliments I got from my friends and teachers.
