As the saying goes, “It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change.” In this ever-changing world, where companies struggle to keep up with the pace of change, Aditya Birla Group has been doing it since 1857. Most companies which have survived this harsh environment have had their foot in only a few business segments whereas Aditya Birla Group has been able to diversify their products as per customer demand and still manage to stay afloat.  The group has its mark in major consumer segments such as Cement, Textile, Fashion, Telecom and Financial services.

The journey which has led me to a position where I stand now has been substantially slow owing to some tangible obstacles that eventuated in my life. In effect to this, the last stages of my JEE preparation was not very kind to me. I used to live alone with my grandparents. Being lonely at an old age instilled their minds with all thoughts of negativeness and eventually it all accumulated to a state where my grandfather committed suicide just before a few days of my JEE Advanced exam. It had a traumatizing effect on me and for days and during this crucial stage my focus was completely shattered. Still, in spite of this, I rose to the occasion and performed to my best of capabilities.

Life has always been easy going for me. From the very beginning, I never put much effort into what I do, everything I achieved  in sports and academics, I believe were because of my in-born talent and I thought that putting extra effort was not something I should do. But everything changed when I went to college. Their procedures and formalities were completely different. I was not able to cope up with the changes and the talent that I was so proud of and treasured would not work out wonders like how it used to fall into place before. My whole mentality had changed and posed this huge challenge to overcome my own limits, to break the shell that was holding me back and I decided to do something big in life. I started preparing for CAT and after all the effort that I had put in, I finally did it, I scored good and I currently am studying in one of the most reputable institutes - Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam.

There has been a lot of challenges and difficult times I have seen and faced during my teenage years. Growing up into adulthood, as I reflect on a few such instances, I realize how time makes us wiser and matured to deal with such problems. The challenge was when I had to make a choice between my career and love. Yes, that looks quite silly now but back then, it was a really tough tussle between the heart and mind. As a bright student with a decent academic record, I managed admission in one of the prestigious engineering institutes of West Bengal. My parents had expectations that I would do really well there and secure a good job before I graduate. But unfortunately, the things didn’t turn out in my favour a few months before placements. I was in a relationship in college days and it was one such incident which broke me down. A verbose fight over phone, plenty of apologies followed, missed calls on a daily basis, the situation left me depressed for months. I badly wanted her in my life, to continue the conversations from where it ended but all went in vain. I was immature to prioritize my career, and failed to concentrate on studies. The placement was round the corner!
